My endeavours are continuing, albeit slowly, having only recently obtained some pertinent voltage readings. Theory (and hence programming) is still intact although some very minor circuit changes were req'd. Some initial testing will either make or break the idea, but the timetable for that is not known at the moment. If only I already owned a D3....

I've been meaning to get those comparison voltage readings but it's just so cold here right now. I'm waiting for a day at least over 0ºC before I go tear into the dash. What did you come up with for readings?

Thanks for the offer to get more readings, but I'm happy to move to the next step with what I got. If I get past all the hurdles I'll be very happy if all I have to do is to make a minor adjustment to get the height just right.
I only read 1 sensor with the vehicle not on level ground but not too badly positioned - ballpark will do atm. What I needed was a base to work on and the incremental voltage for off-road height. Normal height was in this instance 2.077v and off-road 2.397v, with 1.659v at access height just for interest's sake. This wasn't a long way off my guess of 2.0v normal and 2.5v off-road, but far enough. What I needed was to determine if voltage increases as height increases, and by how much. I now need to be able to connect my prototype to all 4 sensors and give it a decent test.
I've just got a price from a wrecker for all 4 ecu connectors (only need 3 of them), but they're much dearer than new from LR I expect. I need to get price & availability of YPC500400, YPC500440 and YPC500830 to see if I take this any further.

I am fairly certain that the EAS ecu harness connectors are not available from LR - or perhaps only as a special order overlay harness from factory - generally only possible through franchisees.

My thoughts here were to identify the hardshell OEM and source only the terminal pins, then use a 4-pin hardshell readily available from the same manufacturer (or 12-pin, if the reference +5V and grounds are required for circuit). It would be reversible (if not easily), without the harness hardshell availability difficulties.

The hardshells and pins are listed as repair items in the electrical reference manual so I'll see how I go. It would probably be impossible to remove pins from the hardshells without first removing the dash, as they are so high up and appear to be on short cable lengths. Even if I identify the OEM part#, I would still require a male socket to make a plug and play version. For my use only, if the pins could be temporarily removed I could just solder wires to them before re-inserting.

What about routing each of the signal wires the box of tricks, altering each signal by a particlar percentage. You could then put another in set of connectors so you cvould disconnect if needed?

My preference is to have short extension leads for the connectors I need access to, which would then have tails to another connector for the unit so that it can be quickly removed, even though it would be invisible to diagnostics even when activate unless used in super-extended mode (the shock limit might make the ecu think the roof is hitting something above). I'm after the raise and lower switch and ignition power and ground too, so access at the ecu connectors would be convenient. However the sensor and switch wires may have to be intercepted elsewhere.

LR have finally admitted the remote adjustable rods are not illegal. Rolling Eyes
(Less than 50mm lift and less than 1/3 of the wheel travel)
They still don't like them and will try to get them banned by the RTA in the next VSI. Twisted Evil

LR Oz tried to threaten but when they did not get a response they checked, realised it wasn't illegal. They have just said that they will take no reponsibility for issues due to the modification. Which is all they should have done in the first place.
But this is why Mitchell Bros pay a a lot of insurance.

The RTA (who relly run the State of NSW) will no doubt be nanny next. If legal mods are installed before the changes they will be approved.

I'm looking forward to testing my electronic project when my vehicle arrives in about 5 weeks. Its been simplified to just use an on/off switch rather than the raise & lower switches and only needs to connect to the 4 sensor wires, 12V & earth.

I did a little bit of testing and discovered that 2 sensors increase voltage as height increases (FR & RL) and the other 2 decrease voltage. No dramas for the project but need to make a couple of circuit and programming changes and get a range of resistors to start homing in on the desired lift as my calcs bear no relationship to reality in this regard.
