I am trying to find a suitable clamp Meter to pursue my battery drain problems. I cannot track down the tool Robbie shows in his post on battery drain (DI-LOG DL6506), in Australia but have come across UNI-T Digital UT211B, which is available locally. Has anyone used one of these?[/quote] Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, Auto, White, Rear Diff Lock. Hi rsp - Fluke is the brand to aim for unless your budget is more like mine then Agilent is the one...

Hi Leigh, thanks for your prayers mot response and advice. The requirement is to be able to measure down to 1ma DC so the higher amp measurement ability is not important. The UT211B and the DI-Log DL6506 meet those requirements, whereas most clamps are aimed at the higher end of the amp range and co not meet the low end resolution needs. rsp - that predictive text seems to have God's hand upon it... But it could have been considered prompt <g> LeighW

Oops!! Not sure how that happened as I did read the response before I sent it. Maybe I can't read? Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, Auto, White, Rear Diff Lock. Just to close this off. I have used the UT211B and found it very sensitive in that the amp reading was all over the place. Also it did not seem to be very accurate when relating its reading to the current calculated from the voltage drop on one of the fuses. Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, Auto, White, Rear Diff Lock. Ok, I take back some of my comments on the effectiveness of the clamp as I have been using the clamp to measure voltage on the CANBUS and the readings are steady, but whether they are correct is another matter. Using it on the positive battery lead is a bit harder. At this stage my lack of knowledge of car electrics is more likely the issue. Disco 3 TDV6 HSE, Auto, White, Rear Diff Lock.
