correct rear lights for D3 2009
I've just gotten my new toy (sorry, sensible family load lugger) from the auction and was wondering if my tail light cluster is the original or if someone's been having fun modifying it? As far as I can see these are D4 lights. Now did some of the later D3s get built with D4 components because
a: LR ran out of D3 bits
b: LR wanted to test the new components on unsuspecting D3 owners
If they are factory fit, then what else on my D3 might also be factory fit.
If anywhere knows the answer to this conundrum (or it's previous owner or maintainer who might tell me) I'd love to know.

From what I can see everything looks original apart from the lights,
Not the best pic but they should look like mine but without the guards

Wrong I'm afraid.
The silver edged rear lights are the D3 upgrade option from back then, you don't see that many of them tbh but they will have been original fit but probably a customer requested upgrade.
Dalek has these fitted to his D3.

The said is not accurate.....
They are not original equipment but are original OEM parts LAND ROVER, are optional taillights and 100% LR that could be installed as original accessory before the D4 went on sale!!lost in translation!

They look like the original LR LED lights that were part of the optional D3 styling kit before the D4 was launched. Quite a few people on here fitted them before the D4 LED's came out. They were originally discussed here: http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic20833.htm...p;start=45 so OEM in a way!

A new body styling pack for Discovery 3 is to be unveiled today 13Sept2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new features on the pack will provide the highly successful and award winning Discovery 3 with an even more contemporary and distinctive exterior, complimenting its legendary off-road credentials.

Additional bright trim features, finished in handsome alloy, include lower door trim finishers, front grille centre vane, side fender vent featuring Land Rover branding, extended roof rails, exhaust tailpipes and tailgate trim finisher.
Together with the new unique LED tail-lamps, the introduction of an impressive rear tailgate spoiler, rear bumper tread plate and rear bumper under tray in distinctive tungsten finish, significantly enhance the rear styling of the vehicle.
All vehicles featuring the body styling pack will also have the benefit of front fog lamps, front parking aid and headlamp powerwash.
When combined with the new craftsmanship improvements recently introduced and shown at Geneva earlier this year, the body styling pack features present Discovery 3 with an exciting blend of exterior style and a luxurious and spacious seven-seat interior.

I'm impressed by the information available on this forum.
The car is at the garage being checked over so I'm going by the auction photos - but lots of the other parts on crews control's list (headlight washers, fog lights, colour coded wheel arches) are also present so I think that's probably the right answer.
Having said that, I really don't like those rears so a set of standard ones might have to be installed.
And so my decent into spending every spare minute doing disco stuff begins......
