Parking Sensors & Spare wheel carrier

I have the Front Runner spare wheel carrier fitted to my car which drives my parking sensors bonkers the minute I select "R".

Can anyone guide me as to the fix for this? I have searched the forum but haven't found a conclusive fix.

I just want to give an update for anyone reading this thread. I have stuck 2 round pieces of black rubber around the center 2 sensors and it has worked. I no longer have the PDC going nuts the minute I hit reverse!

Hi Jet, was it rubber rings you used ? I just fitted an after market tow hitch ( mitch hitch ) to my D3 and sensors go nuts when i reverse, also planning on a wheel carrier at some stage.

Sorry about the delay, somehow missed this thread and your reply - I went to the nearest hardware store and bought those little rubber dots that you stick underneath a chair stool or any table ornaments..

The problem seems to have returned with my larger BF Goodrich tyre on the spare wheel carrier... will continue my search and update in this thread

England

UK spec HSE has a button on the dash that disables the sensors Question

Next to the Hazard Werning Lights, little light illuminates when in use.

I had this issue some years back - especially with a larger BFG AT tyre.

I found the patch was only required on the sensor under the handle.

I used a round patch from a bog standard bicycle puncture repair kit - you could even cut one from an old inner tube.
 I see no ships........

AU D3 has the button as well but would rather decrease their sensitivity than turn off all together , i had an idea of getting some of those stick on buttons and drilling a hole in them so the sensor has a narrower field.

If you're towing, the reverse sensors are disabled. Perhaps you can fool it into thinking you are towing something?
