Suspension lowering overnight |
|
Hi,
I'm new here. Drove many years on a modified Disco 1. Just upgraded(?) to the D3.
I've noticed that when I'm not using the car, it will go down in about 1cm/day. both front & end sides. No warning lights/errors/etc. The compressor kicks in every morning start, working between 30 seconds to a minute. After reading in this forum, I've done the fuse removal procedure in order to find the leak. However, without the fuse, the car won't go down at all.
Any idea how to proceed from here?

Hi and welcome
Mine goes down too but I don't think it's leak but rather that the suspension is out of height alignment which then when you switch off the car and lock the doors it starts going through the self levelling process but can't because one of the sensors will always be out and eventually it will be on the bump stops.
I have a Bluetooth IID tool and set my suspension a while ago and it seemed to be fine after but now I have changed my front lower arms its back to going low so when I get chance and find a flat area I will reset.
It's also possible to see it if you have the 4x4 screen active.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
Haven't thought on that option. Next week I will have access to a diagnostic tool and I'll check this out.
Regards,

an update:
I did had one sensor showing weird values. I've done the calibration process with a lynx tool, but last night it went down again (I'm talking about the car. not the wife )
Does anyone have another idea?

Sounds like it could be the sensor thats throwing up strange values causing the problem, might be better to change it.

mine also does this, has for the last 2 years, its not a problem, only in that of course the compressor is probably working harder than it ought to. Can someone remind me the fuse trick to see if it still drops with the suspension disabled? cheers 2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

Mine used to do this but it was a very slow leak in one front bag, by the time I realised it had goosed the compressor
If you park it on flat, smooth ground and then remove the fuse (if you take the fuse box cover off in the engine compartment you'll see it identified), it should stop the self levelling system cutting in, so a droopy corner or front/back becomes more obvious. If you measure and record each corner carefully you'll be able to tell, might take a day or so of leaving it though.
Could also be a relief valve block (there are 3) as the drying silica in the pump breaks down and contaminates the valves so they don't close fully. Easy enough to change (I replaced the front on mine), about £80 a piece.
