Can I Use This To Connect My iPhone To My Sat Nav Screen

Hi all.

I really want the gvif kit with reverse camera but at the moment I cant afford one. If I purchase this cable (link at bottom) can I connect my iPhone to it and have it come up on the sat nav screen?

Also is it easy to connect and what cable do I have to buy for the iPhone to have it all connected up?

Thanks.

That cable would only allow a composite video feed from an older iPhone (30-pin connector using an AV cable) to appear on the screen if you go through the 'hidden button' route on the SatNav screen. You'd need to connect the audio from the iPhone through the Aux jack on the back of the centre console.

The newer lightening connector on the iPhone doesn't have a composite out on it so you'd need a converter cable.

I've done it a few times & tbh it's a bit of a faff, but it is do-able.

Yes, but you'd need to do this every time you wanted to use the camera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H408DFPyIp0

Landie71. Thanks for the info.

Until I get he gvif unit this will do me. Could I be cheeky and ask if you could get me a link to which conveyer cable I need to buy? Bow down

How easy is it to fit the cable (the one I posted in the link)?

Thanks Thumbs Up

There isn't a direct converter cable for phones with a lightening connector, so you'd need to go from the phone to HDMI with one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-Lightning-D...ng+to+hdmi then a short HDMI cable https://www.amazon.co.uk/Resolution-Compat...=0.5m+hdmi and finally a HDMI to composite converter https://www.amazon.co.uk/Swees-Composite-C...+composite. To get the sound from the converter to the AUX socket you'd need something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ugreen-Stereo-Aux...m+to+phono & to get the video to the cable from the Disco3 shop you'd need one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Mountain-Qu...hono+cable.

As you can see it's adding up (well over £50) & the screen in the D3 isn't a very high resolution screen so the end result won't be great. Fitting the cable from the Disco3 shop isn't too difficult though, you pull the H-trim off, then you can take the SatNav screen out by taking four screws out & the fabrica connectors are on the back of it.

If I were you, I'd get the audio cable & balance your phone in front of the screen - it's much cheaper & the quality of the image will be much better.

I've got something similar to this in the Aux socket to connect my phone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Receive...ooth+3.5mm & if I want to watch the phone.

Hope it gives you a bit of food for thought Thumbs Up

Mmmm I think I'll pass on that one lol. Way too much.

I have a Samsung s3 or s4 I think. That may be able to support it and plug into the cable saving me a whole heap of hassle.

What you reckon?

Thanks for the info though deco has helped but a no no Sad
