My plan was to look at the car at JLR in Solihul be blown away by the vehicle then head home via the dealer and order one. However I was not blown away and after a cooling down period over the last few days I cant find the inspiration to order one. I am finding my self looking at alternatives.
It is a stunning car but its lost its rufty tufy macho 4x4 appeal.

Andrew, despite what i am saying im sure they are, i just hope its better than what they have just released thats all, it would just be nice to see something out there really, just some form of spy shot in the distance. Im just hoping they are not going to give up on that type of vehicle after the dropping the DC100 , i know the replacement will have huge boots to follow but I just have lost a lot of faith in LR lately and think that they don't want to make, as some would say, another Censored up.

I think, what den wants to say is:
Which car shall we buy in future and do we REALLY have to go away from Land Rover, because we don't want to. But at the moment we can't identify with the new products.

I know Land Rover will sell a lot of these vehicles. But they gave up everything to do so. They get more and more compareable to everything else on the market. The D4 stood out from the mass like the cliffs of dover over the sea. And yes, it needed to be modernized. But they have a three product-pillar system. Range Rover, Discovery, Defender. And why do they have to share all their attributes? Despite being a real seven seater it could easily be badged as a Range Rover...

I've been invited to go and see it again tomorrow night at the VIP centre in Solihull...I hope that there's a different atmosphere and bits of the motor that actually work this time. Whistle

I've just got back from Paris after a great 24hrs in the city and most of today in the show ...here are my initial impressions....warts & all.

I cannot comment as I have yet to see the car in the flesh. However I can make a couple of comments about the vehicle at the show.
Many years ago i worked in the motor trade and it was always the case with cars on display that they were hammered and always looked trashed after a week or so on display. They often had what appeared to be premature wear to the seat, and creaking trim panels and glove boxes. However having said all of that not very often did the customers who brought the cars experience such issues. Having been to the London motor show this year the same could be seen there with several cars after just a couple of days. This has also been the case with caravans at caravan shows, they always looked worse for wear after a week on a show.

So hears hoping that perhaps the real cars will be better put together and will wear much better. a point I will bre putting to the engineer when we go on the factory tour soon Whistle

I think your view would rightly hold water if every other motor marque of equivalent standing at the show had similar issues. I sat in them all, played with the gadgets and rummaged in the boot of them all ...no others were demonstrating the technical difficulties of the Disco.

I could understand if one of them on display had gremlins ...but both having gremlins was unforgivable.

PS For anyone who is going and hasn't been before, don't go into the Visitors' Car Park on the right of the entrance road. Go straight to the Main Gate where you will be directed to the Valet parking crew at the Visitor's Centre just inside the gate.

Hi Bill,
I'm going there tomorrow. Do you mind confirming that you go in via the main gate off Lode Lane rather than gate D2 off Damson Parkway (which is the one I've been to before for an experience day)?

Thanks

Lode Lane B92 8NW. Go through the gate between my D4 (the Red one) and the gate house, use the gate closest the the gate house. The VIP parking is where the chap is standing in the middle of the pic

Twisted Evil I knew it

The other thing to bear in mind was that you could only access the JLR stand if you had the email with the QRCode on it.

Joe Public couldn't just wander on unlike say the Audi or Merc Benz stands ...you could even get on the Porsche stand by queuing up.

This meant that there were around 50 on the JLR stand at any one time....despite this restricted audience the RRS SVR and the FFRR were locked Rolling Eyes
