After reading another post on here, I came across the wikiloc app. I've downloaded it and it seems like a really good platform.
I have only done a couple of lanes in the past in a FL1 (don't ask) and they were virtually flat dust tracks that any car could do.
My question is, has or does anyone use wikiloc? I am fully aware of the GLASS code, and making sure that it is legal to drive etc... my reservations are that as I am fairly new to all this, I didn't want to go out and get it wrong on the first attempt!
It seems to be a bit of a mine field when you research lanes, and the app seems to take a lot of the headache out of it. I live about 30mins from Salisbury plain, so I'm thinking of there as a baptism. From what I've seen on YT it's a good mix of not overly damaging with a healthy mix of mud and ruts
And of course, I have the paper version of the maps should technology fail me!
Any info/advice greatly welcomed

Don't use it James. In a nutshell, it gives no indication of legal status of lanes with the potential to land yourself on the wrong side of the law. Not worth the risk of having car impounded
Use OS maps and the county council rights of way websites to identify legal routes.
Watch out for permanent, voluntary and temporary TROs (temporary traffic orders)
Best to join a local club e.g Somerset and Wiltshire LR club, Dorset LRclub or Solent and District etc who will show you the ropes.

If you join glass, you also get access to trailwise. Might be a better option for you than the other app.

I used it to plan my trip to Poland last year and it was very good. But the issue I found is that a lot of the recorded tracks are normal roads.
But for uk use, only really good to give you a clue as to potential tracks for follow up by the previously mentioned means. Mark.
