Digging through some old photos, thourght this might be of interest, you should be able to guess where this is, it dates from the 1930's.

It's Bealach Na Ba and although I don't remember it as a dirt track, my earliest recollections of it were just like that pic but with a skim of tarmac on the top.

Just passing through Martin, although I've never really been away! Thanks for the welcome back though.
I needed to get in touch with DSL this morning and a PM here was probably the quickest way of doing it.
Then I happened to read a few posts and couldn't resist this one. 8)
It appears that times and vehicles have changed for many, but I'm still chugging about in my FFRR which has 110k miles and over 7 years use to it's name. It's been virtually faultless in all that time and I still love it to death. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Yes, JMC, your quite correct. I will have to have a look at some of the other photos I have. Just thourght this one was interesting particularly when there's a few on the forum that have travelled that road.

Went over it a couple of years back in the pouring rain. Hasn't improved much since that photo was taken. Got stuck in a ditch two wheels on the Tarmac and two in the ditch. Bloody D3 wouldn't come out. Eventually rock crawl did the trick. Learned a valuable lesson about the limitations of the D3. Certainly with the shear drops and lunatic locals not to be tackled by the faint hearted.
