Geordie's 2007 Disco3
Hi guys, new to the site, and to Land Rover to be honest. I'm Chris, from sunny Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the North Yorkshire coast.
I've had more than 50 cars at last count, and tried all of the usual makes/brands, and usually run older/retro motors. In addition to my Disco, my current fleet comprises of a 1994 Nissan Maxima (3 litre V6, 76k miles) and a 1996 Ford Probe (2.5 litre V6, 64k miles)...

But I'm guessing you're more interested in the Disco. Well, we bought a caravan (long story involving the sad passing of Julie's dad) in the summer....

...and needed something a bit more pokey than the '08 Mitsubishi Outlander we had. So we settled on this.
2007 Land Rover Discovery 2.7 TDV6, XS spec, automatic, 190bhp in black.
Cruise Control
Air-con
Remote locking
Electric windows (x4) & mirrors
Heated front seats
Heated front screen and washer jets
Auto lights
Auto wipers
Auto dimming rear view mirror
18" alloys
4 x brand new Pirelli tyres
Harmon Kardon audio with 6 CD changer (will be replaced with the double din touchscreen Pioneer unit we removed from the Outlander - same one that's in the Maxima)
6 speed tiptronic/auto box
Traction control
Towbar
I'd have preferred a leather interior, but you can't win 'em all.
It's on 139k miles, but it actually had a replacement new engine at 60k, so the engine is only on 80k. Full service history, stamped mostly by Land Rover garages. Two previous owners.
First pics at Wetherby Services on the way back from Wakefield after picking it up...

When Julie was driving it home, it went into (what we now realise) limp mode. She thought the dog had climbed over the seats and knocked one of the ride height buttons, so we overlooked that, and enjoyed looking at our new motor. More to come on that. First wash pics first though, after a wash, dry, clay bar and one coat of AG Super Resin Polish......

So, back to the 'limp mode' issues' I alluded to before. We've had the car for about 2 months, but had it on the drive for less than half of that! It's been back to the dealer we bought it from (not a main dealer, but a LR specialist) a couple of times. Things done/replaced?
2 x lower front arms
2 x rear upper arms
Knuckle Joints
Ball joints
Brake discs and pads all round
Three replacement callipers
2 x track arms
Track rod ends
Full wheel alignment
Brake flexes
Lower brake hoses
Handbrake mechanism
Both rear ride height sensors
Fuel pump
Yes, there are things on that list I should have been more aware of, but we were assured it was just serviced/checked etc, drove down to Wakefield to view/test drive/buy, and it was absolutely chucking it down monsoon like when we got there (never ideal checking a car in the rain, I know!). BUT, that's a lot we have had done at the dealers expense and under the 3 month warranty.
Things still to sort....
Leak on the air-con system
Rear parking sensor fault
Improvements planned/thought about...
Disco4 front grille and rear lights
Side steps
Tint rear windows
Fit double din touchscreen head unit
Refurb the wheels
Today, I Vax'd the front seats as they needed cleaning, and spent half an hour or so under the bonnet...

Sorry for the pic laden first post in this thread. Well done for getting to the bottom, if indeed you have.
Looking forward to the NE meet in three weeks, and bending the ear of you knowledgeable sorts!
Chris.

Sorry, but I have to get one thing clear right now. Draw that line in the sand. None of my cars will ever look dirty. Ever. Land Rover or no Land Rover

Cheers Dan.
The Maxima is in the next 'Retro Japanese' mag, and the Probe will be featured in the Feb issue of 'Practical Classics'.

Cheers Alan. I usually use an engine degreaser, but today, I just used some WD40, a toothbrush, a microfibre cloth and elbow grease.

I'm exactly the same! I'm forever cleaning and detailing mine, my neighbours always comment saying I'm going to rub it away.
