Although this may disappoint a number of people, I can absolutely 100% guarantee that it is NOT a split tailgate.
It's a single piece unit with an (optional?) slide out platform.2012 - 8 Speed D4 HSE in Indus Silver with surround cameras, adaptive headlamps, privacy glass, rear entertainment, 20" alloys.

So the new 2.0 RRS is a coiler does 45mpg and will sell for less than £60k (just)
Feels like the Range Rover brand is going less 'Premium' as fast as the Disco is going the other way!

£75,000 for an entry level, air suspended, split tailgate, 3.0 V6 equipped Range Rover is starting to look like good value for money!
I'm not parting with the D4 but, with GAP insurance taking me to full replacement value until the Disco is 6 years old, a total loss claim would lead me to a choosing between the best used D4, or FFRR, that I could get my hands on for the available money
It's have to be red though 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200

So a base D5 with coils, no low range and a 2.0D for £55k? Assuming the RRS is given a "Range Rover" brand premium over the "Discovery" brand price. Seems a lot of money to me.
I just played around with the configurator, and decided that by the time I'd spec'd the RRS as I'd want it, it was £80k. For £84k I could have the FFRR equivalent. If I was in the market for a new one, I'd be going FFRR every day.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Land Rover don't have any worries about bleeding edges between the two brands. If you look at the starting price of the Range Rover family its 1k less than the starting price of the Discovery family.
With this introduction of a 4 pot coiler range rover I expect the D5 to start at £55k for a TD4 5 seater on coils possibly with manual and very few features. The HSE will be up there with the RRS and the Lux with a big engine could be well into FFRR territory when fully loaded.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Hmmmm. I reckon the base coil sprung 2.0 Sd4 will start at around £40k..... That's probably part of the plan, to be able to cost the lower models for less than the Range Rover series.2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

I am not an 'insider', I don't work for JLR.
When the first close up spy shots came out in the media I was discussing them and it seems that the D5 will look almost identical to the New York concept minus the suicide doors. This was no real surprise as the spy photos over-layed on this forum with the concept proved that, plus it follows the Evoque concept to production version.
The same discussion included that the video on YouTube released some time ago by Land Rover US showing a one piece tailgate and slide out platform was significant, and the RRS has a similar body.
This is all at the same time as the spy shots, hence it's just indication that the concepts openly released by JLR are close to reality, all backed up the photos gradually appearing. Exactly as happened with the Evoque before its final production version was released.
