The wheels do look tiny... in fact the small arches make the body look a bit bulbous, particularly at the back ?2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

I disagree. I remember very well the day I got my first D3, 29th Nov 2004. It was dusk and I took the car around to my mates house to pick up my son who had been playing there.
" oh you've bought a new Range Rover " we're his exact words. The fact is, in 2004 the overall shape of the FFR were pretty similar to the then "radical new kid on the block" which was the D3.
There were loads of negative comments at the time, like how the will we manage with a split tailgate? It looks like a van, it's not a real 4x4 because it's got electronic evil stuff. Loads of nay Sayers.
I can't wait to see it.

Wonder if you could get some big fat 285/50/20 LTZs under there?
Just wonder what's still being hidden under the disguise.
1) the way the front & rear lights stretch down the body?
2) the side vents?
3) just wondering what's going on at the top of the 'C' pillar, seems an odd profile.
Anything else?...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Got my first D3 in 2005, loads of people round here with D2's and they absolutely hated the D3. No spare on the back, Split Tailgate, too many gadgets they ripped into me for some years. Now most are driving around in D3's and swear by them.
Its change, but I'm getting quite excited as long as the boots got the space i need and it has a bigger engine option !MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Got to say I'm liking the 'updated' look but if the interior finish is anything like the DS 'loaner' I had a few weeks back, it won't be for me! Hopefully if the price is going to be 'Range Roveresque' the interiors will be too
The pictures that Martin posted......"It looked huge"
To follow on from what we have now in the D3/4 it has to be huge - huge is significantly more useful & purposefull than a RRS either the original or new one
Huger or ...larger than a FFRR & a preferable price (preferable = lower cost)
Huge outside means huge inside....it can't be done any other way.
I don't know how the DS can be compared here it's a Freelander 3 & in some respects isn't as good feature wise as an FL2 & an extortionate price....it may be the look alike of what we are seeing the Disco 5 but that's the "con".....those looking may be fooled.....real Disco people won't be.
A DS hasn't got air suspension, low range transmission, the towing capability, or the capacity load wise...the only things it shares are the Maker of the brand & the actual model name....Discovery.
The analogy I'm alluding to is that TATA may have some horrible concoction in India they could export here....if they stuck a Discovery badge on it it doesn't make it a Disco....a real Disco.....not even a rebadged FL2.
I believe the Disco 3/4 will become classic sought after vehicles as they have the capability & the credentials....all of them, the Disco 3/4 isn't about looks it's about all round capability.BREXIT - done properly.

I liked the look of this mockup published beginning of the year but dismissed it as total fantasy, but actually I think it looks well cool

We are all going to compare the Disco 5 with what we have now "as good", better, even worse if a feature we all accept as a given now isn't on fitted as OEM kit.
We have a sampler in the form of the Freelander 3 aka Disco sport.....that may give a clu to the shape.
But.....would you judge the FFRR by the Evoke ?......which is another iteration of the Freelander 2.....sort of a squished one with a ridiculously high price tag "bang for your buck wise"......to me daft money.
Disco 5.....I would like to think if you could take the "B"pillar forwards of the RRS (engines/s, front seat) & graft on "B" backwards 2nd row seats that take three adults, 3rd row seats (2 off) that stack away & leave a load space akin to what we have right now - especially height & width wise.
Split tailgate preferably...it makes sense, it works, & has loads of uses.
Same towing capacity
Air suspension, dual ratio box,
Rear AC......I need this for two passengers who do discriminate.....on 500 mile journeys not the school run or going to Sainsbury's
No gimmicks like mobile phone remote driving apps, if buyers want rear seat infotainment let them bolt something on but not at the expense of rear AC...
...minimal bling.....that's for the FFRR, RRS, Evoke type people
Essentially a practical "thinking mans" practical, working vehicle at a cost that is realistic.....that is what we have right now - for this who think it's too big or has features (listed above) they don't need or are downsizing - buy a DS or some other make.
If LR don't listen to customers existing they are making a huge mistake.....other makers use the Disco 3/4 as the benchmark...we know why.BREXIT - done properly.
