Discovery 4 reversing camera

Has anybody fitted a D4 reversing camera to the D3?

Do they just have a video and power feed? From the photos they seem to use a special connector.

I found one on ebay for £190. Does this sound reasonable? Is the connector available anywhere, Is it built into the main loom on a D4 or is there a separate cable assembly available?

The main issue I have with my existing lamp holder type camera is that I can't see any part of the car, does this one at least show the tow bar?

What about picture quality? Any better than the cheap ebay cameras or about the same?

Another alternative I considered was butchering the blanking plate to hold a cheap camera, If I did that and changed my mind can I get hold of a new blanking plate without replacing the entire door handle (again)

Thanks
Alan

With the right pins, the d4 type works fine. However, the quality is pretty poor comalred to the aftermarket cameras.
I've fitted loads to d3 and d4. Thumbs Up

Thanks, wasn't expecting it to be worse, that would have been really annoying considering the price.

Just ordered the one from in car tech I posted earlier.

Just checking, that you've already got a reverse camera you're swapping for a different one or you're wanting to add it new?

I've already got one of those number plate lamp holder type ones connected to a gvif, just installed a few days ago. I still have missing skin from routing the cables.

This is just to get a better location for the camera so that it's actually useful.

This arrived today, Due to the lens distortion I can just see the edge of the bumper to the left and right and the end of the tow ball in the centre. A significant improvement over the previous camera and I get the full size number place light back.

Picture quality is probably about the same, and the guide lines are selectable via a jumper.
