Selecting New Tyres
Hi folks.
Up to now I've been using Vredstien Wintrac Extreme and I've quite liked them. However since I started buying them the new symbols have appeared giving their fuel efficiency, stopping in rain and noise level.
They have a rating of C (Fuel), E (Rain) and 71dB. Whilst I've not particularly had a problem in the rain, E is not very good really.
So I've had a look around and found these possibles on Black Circles fitted:
Michelin Tour HP: B, C, 71, £158
Dunlop SP Quattro Maxx: C, A, 69, £153.51
Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 2 SUV K117A: C, A, 71, £133.51
Kumho Crugen HP91: C, B, 72, £117.96
Avon ZX7: B, A, 71, £117.65
And on Camskills, there are (unfitted, so plus £15 or so):
Cooper 4XS Zeon Sport: B, A, 71, £100.20
Hankook RA33 DynaPro HP: B, B, 70, £113.95
There are lots of others.
Has anyone any experience of any of these, whether using them or professionally.
The Hankook RA33 has particularly good specs. But how long they last on the road is of course another question!
Cheers

Can't offer any advice as I'm looking for some myself!
I've got Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on my D4 (19" rims). They've still got a bit of life in them, but I'm wondering what I should look for when they're due for a replacement.
I do mainly on-road driving but do venture off-road a few times. I'd say that 90% is on-road.
I've seen recommendations for General Grabber and DuraTrac, but know even less about tyres than I do about what happens under the bonnet.
I do like a rugged look to the tyre, but that's not the only consideration.
Any recommendations - and where to source? I live between Glasgow and Motherwell.

I'm moving towards the Avon. Only recently introduced seems to attract very good reviews.2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather, towing a Coachman VIP 575

If you never go off the tarmac got for Pirelli ATR giving you super long life and quite good grip in most conditions
if you need combination of long life awesome on road off road traction as well as good winter grip without changing boots go for Duratracs
Good luck

ATRs are excellent offroad as long as nothing too extreme like thick mud.
grzesiul, just been offroading in your homeland with ATRs with no issues at all.

be careful they have done so called red zones where entry is illegal and cost up to 2000 EUR in cash
enjoy cheapo beer and diesel as long as £ has some value left

These were just signposted tracks between villages with some other traffic so shpuld have been OK, but thanks for the heads up. Back on the black stuff now til Finland.
Re dwindling value of £STG tell me about it, every time Carney opens his trap diesel gets more expensive. Luckily got 500PLN at pre Brexit rates.

I'd suggest looking at Nokian Z line SUV's, I have a set (non SUV) on my car (not D3) and they have been very good. Very good wet grip and very, very good dry grip. Reasonable wear and not noisy.

Also watching this thread as I plan to change my tyres in the autumn. My D4 came with a brand new set of SUV 'summer' tyres on & whilst coped admirably with a VERY wet & muddy field being used as a car park last week - passed a Fl1 stuck on a downhill slope & Hyundai 4x4 was towed in to park next to me I am looking to replace them with something that copes better with standing water & won't let me down if we get a sprinkling of the white stuff this winter.
Specifically I'm looking at Pirelli ATR vs. Pirelli Scorpion Zero & would welcome feedback from anyone who has direct experience of both please.
Thanks.D4 - Stornoway Grey

Just for those that are thinking of going for the Pirellis at the moment, Kwik Fit (I know...don't start about them...) are doing a £20 cash back per tyre of 19" (£10 for 18") if you buy 2 or more online, then fitted by end of July... Has to be bought online, not in store, and you have to do the claim for cash back on their site by end August, but if you can be bothered brings the price down to about £100 per tyre fitted. I can't get anything close to that for those tyres anywhere else...
