Absatidellingtootlie. Mine has more than paid for itself and fuelled my paranoia in equal measure.
As the original Diagnostic Dummy, I can wield the power of the IID with positively Jedi like capabilities. Well almost.
One of the best things I've bought for both my D3 and D4, plus my folks' D4.

I'm interested in one of these. If I wanted to use it to modify my car (e.g. turn on DLR's, put into tight tolerance mode etc.) would I need to provide a stable power supply in addition to the car battery? If so how?

Small /quick mods, you'll be fine. For the longer ones, connecting jump leads to another motor will be ok

And me. The price of these, even used ones seems to increase every time I look. Best to buy one now before they increase again.

Great, a group buy, I was about to buy one.. trouble is I need it fairly soon, how long would it be before you start posting them out? i.e. will it be as soon as 10 places are filled and I've paid? Or could you post asap if I paid before 10 places are filled? (may not be much difference given the demand for these!
cheers

Thanks tayaste, you're the second person to suggest jumping to another car for power.
Does the IID tool let you create a restore point/back-up should it all go tit s-up when configuring the car?

It sure does. When you first plug it in it does a back up immediately in the background so all is safe.

It will lock to the first vehicle it's plugged into however you can still read fault codes and look at live values on other supported vehicles without the need to buy another licence.Stu

Have I missed something as the GAP website link in Pat's signature has these for £399 including free postage. I would have thought a group buy would command a better discount?

That would be plus duty and VAT as they are coming from across the pond. HMRC would relieve you of it on importation.
