Ok, some piccies of the 2 main alternative jacking methods, using a 2.5t Halfords trolley jack (about £30 ish)
First, from the side. Note the jack is fully extended and the car isn't off the ground
(starting from raised suspension ht)
Chassis rails (rear)
Then, wheel about 1" off the ground, perfect for changing, note the angle of the jack lift arm.
Rear wishbone
And similarly for the front:
Front wishbone
I hasten to add that all the usual caveats & exclusions apply, please only follow standard Landrover Procedure etc etc .. don't copy me & jack on uneven gravel where the trolley jack can't roll etc...

Good pics
Agree, a key point when using a trolley jack is that it must be able to roll!
Might try on the wishbones when I put my road wheels back on.

I swapped my wheels and tyres back to MT/Rs today from the Scorpions and employed this method. It works fine but the only thing I would say is that if you have a 3T jack like I do then to get the saddle in what I would think is the safest place under the wishbones then due to the width ( )the jack wheels do end up sometimes interfering with the D3 tyres but if you're not desperate to have to lift your motor to the heights required by jacking it in the other places, then it's a good alternative. and theeeeennn......???

Thats the big issue with jacking on the chassis rail - the ridiculous (and dangerous) height you seem to need to get to, to do the job. The only issue I might have is the length of the jacking arm and whether it'll reach far enough under.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Yep, thats a problem. You'll note that I've inserted the jack at a slight angle rather than in-line with the car to avoid this, but with a better jack it's going to be more of a problem.
No doubt someone will be along dreckly to tell us that these particular suspension parts aren't designed to be jacked or to support the weight...
Two other things struck me:
1) My mantec is looking rather scuffed. Need some detailing tips!
2) I'm missing my "t"

I agree, particularly on the front wishbones, but there is a way round this, firstly drive the d3 onto some pieces of wood a bit thicker than the height of the trolley jack wheels and set out slightly so the tyres don't contact the jack wheels at all, the jack wheels just tuck in next to the wood below the tyre. I still think jacking this way is much safer than on the chassis rails, certainly for just swapping wheels over.

Don't think that'll work for me with 295 width on 20"Stormers.
Will poss just keep using chassis rails, as there was no problem whatsoever with capacity of the trolley jack I bought.
