Only lights I know of are the light clusters with brake, indicator, fog and reverse and the repeat brake light at top... do you mean when the tailgate is open ? As I have no lights here ?
Unless you mean the ones under the tail gate handle... these light up the reg plate.

Are you able to post a picture. In the meantime are they red or white lights. As the other guys said there are the top red lights being stop lights and the white lights are to illuminate the number plate.

I thought this could have gone in the Tip & Tricks section but hey this is appropriate on this thread.
The rego plate lights also act as a rear lamp when the tailgate is open and lights on. It helps you see around the back when your loading the rear in the dark.

Confused Me. What lights? There's the high level brake light at the top and the number plate lights underneath the handle?
