Hi all,
New to this forum, got a Disco 3 two weeks ago getting used to it, got cam belts changed this week. lower front bushes hopefully done this week.
My question is might sound stupid to use all, Disco (manual) facing down hill on a steep slope, in reverse let brake of then clutch out all it want is to roll forward. Then, put in reverse leave break on and let clutch out no problems, is this normal on steep slopes.??

I've had my d3 manual 6 years it's parked on my drive which is steep, & I tow a caravan all around Europe with the tin hut I've parked up on some steep climbs & have only ever used the hand brake, but if you are in any doubt steer it into the kerb then put the hand brake on hope this helps

Not sure either, but think he is saying his " handbrake is not holding the car" but holds when left in gear, i would presume that wouls be normal, but not good practise
If this is the case i think you need to adjust your handbrake.
Have any others with manuals tried this
If at a pull away, say a junction with a slight incline and you are holding the car still using the foot brake and in gear with the clutch depressed, when it is time to pull away, instead of doing a quick foot change to accel pedal and running the risk of rolling back, you press the brake down hard and then change it to the accelerator the car seems to give you the time to change your foot and pull away without rolling back There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Im with Andi that's the way I do it
Some cars ive had (Vauxhall vxr) have an electronic delay when the handbrake is disengaged on a slope up or down that allows you a second or two to get clutch control, but the D3 I don't believe has this feature ....................................................................................................

The way I read it was, what is the best way to reverse up a steep slope ?
If so, Low Range(if steepness requires it), in reverse, find biting point, let epb off, go up slope .......?
Worked well on my manual, unless I suppose you have automatic release configured, then it should be even easier.

Five.
My epb automatically releases when clutch is lifted and thottle pushed, you do have to do both. Going up or down hill, don't need going down really so push the epb so it doesn't feel like it is running away with you.
