Handbrake Warning Light
Good evening. On the way home this evening the orange warning light for the handbrake has come on. All the brakes were overhauled less than 9months ago; 4 New Discs and pads all round, new handbrake shoes, everything has been perfect until this evening. Please could I ask for any advice on what might be the cause of the problem. PS. The handbrake and footbrake still works ok.
Thanking you in anticipation.Joined Aug 2014. Disco 3 SE 54plate, Buckingham Blue, Cream leather.

no theres no separate wear sensor on the handbrake, but just thinking that the warning light could relate to the braking system in entirety, and possible causes of the warning light out loud
anyone with a fault mate could get the code quickly and pin point....................................................................................................

Is your gear indicator om the dash reacting slowly/rear park sensors also not working??
If so try xy sensor recalibration procedure

BBB Thanks for your response. Yes the gear selector indicator is operating slow (2-3 seconds before gear number shows on dash) Rear Parking Sensors not working, also not sure if its connected to my problem but the reversing lights have stopped working. What do I need to do to resolve/repair the problems please.
Thanks again - DerryJoined Aug 2014. Disco 3 SE 54plate, Buckingham Blue, Cream leather.

there are a few variations on this with all little differences, the one i did years back said i had to keep a speed above 26 mph and at end wait about ten minutes till car went to sleep
Anyway this sounds like your problem
This usually occurs if you get a bit of clutch slip, not necessarily a clutch failure, maybe just an exuberant take of or a bit of clutch ride
But obviously if persists you may be needing a new clutch, used to happen when we first got the car and SWMBO learned to have confidence in the EPB releasing on a hill startThere is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

You know all those big knobs in the centre console turn the one with the road and mountains to the mountain position There is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Don't think this is completely necessary, it just means you need a lot shorter length of road to do the procedure in
Note: you may have to do it a couple of times, easy proof will be in the gear selected indicator being a lot quicker
Think the wait at the end is until the Park brake light goes out meaning car has gone to sleepThere is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Anyway good luck, just hope the problem does not keep reappearing as may be a sign of your clutch being on its last legsThere is no I in team, but there are five in Individual Brilliance

Many Thanks Leesbay and BBB and any other responders.
Tried you advise first thing on Friday morning and it worked a treat. I have since done over 800 mile been down to Devon and Cornwall over the bank holiday and touch wood no further issues.
Once again many thanks.
