Cheers, forgot about connecting the -ve to the earth point. Will have a mooch to see where that is. Too used to the nice and simple(ish) D3.

Forgot to mention that charging through the tow electrics is fine - and probably the easiest way.
As long as you remember to disconnect it before you drive off
However, Martin provides an excellent reminder card - bright orange - with the adapterFFRR Westminster TDV8

I've got an old style charger with croc clips rather than a CTEK, should be fine as long as I remember not to put it on properly.

D4 battery change required
I have a 2010 plate TDV6. I have been getting the Lo batt death warning of late and so measured 14.3v across the batt terminals with car idling today and 12.5v with engine switched off.
Have concluded a new batt is needed but have 2 questions:
1. Is there a correct procedure any different to changing any other battery? Eg reset the BMS?
2. I've sold the car so don't want expense of OE equipment so what is a reasonable substitute sround say £150 mark?
Thanks,
McB

It should be the type of battery in your D4, worth having a look at the battery & seeing if it does say AGM anywhere. If your car has an AGM batt you should fit a replacement AGM battery unless you tell it differently (change a setting). It stands for absorbent glass mat.

Ah I see it's an Absorbent Glass Mat design.
Paranoid about swapping it over myself though. The guy at Halfords said no problem but other sources say reprogramming car is sometimes required so best fitted by dealers. Thoughts o learned folks?

As I understand it if you have an AGM battery in there it's a case of out with the old, in with the new. Nothing else needs done. It's heavy, pigging heavy, but apart from that it's a piece of cake.
But remember I'm a non techie, best wait for a tech guru to confirm/deny/call me an idiot (delete as appropriate)
