How do I remove this trim?
Hi Guys
I need to drop some parts off to the shop for spraying tomorrow but unsure how to remove this plastic door trim?
(shown gloss black here, but mine is matte grey)
I assume it pops off, but as its quite firm I want to be sure before I go ahead and use force incase it is attached from behind the door card.
thanks

Never mind I worked it out... For those that also want to know:
Taking the drivers door for example
Step 1 - Remove the screw inside the door handle but popping out the plastic cover, then unscrewing.
Step 2 - using your left hand, pry the end of the plastic trim closest to the door hinge up (you should see the handle part start to budge out slightly)
Step 3 - at the same time, use your right hand to open the door handle, then continue opening it as if you were going to overextend the door handle
Voila, the whole piece with a bit of force will pop out.
*Note the attachments on the back of the door trim and angled as such that you effectively need to slide it towards the door opening which is why opening the door handle works as it pulls it that direction. Some were easier than others, but all needed some degree of force.
Good luck.
FYI, I have also removed the following pieces:
plastic below the GPS
Plastic surrounding the cigarette lighters/traction control centre
Both plastic surrounds for the steering wheel buttons.
so call out if you need help doing this. I will post some pics after they have been sprayed (today).

Bit of a thread resurrection moment, but has anybody done a whole sale change of these from say the nast brown wood, to the piano black? and got parts numbers or removal proceedure?
Just look at a couple of D4's I really like but all have nasty light brown wood and I'd really prefer piano black or at least something else.
Cheers all,
Darren.

Now dont laugh, but I wanted to the same on a BMW 5 series I had.
I ended up taking all the wood trim off and applying vinyl wrap (loads of choice of designs) and fitting that. Vinyl wrap has come a long way and the ffect was great-it really did look like it was gloss black wood.
Added bonus is that you can always take it off if you dont like it or mess it up. AND a sheet of wrap is cheap.
Defo worth a go I say.

Would love to know if the nasty light brown really is wood or plastic/vinyl?????.

funnily enough, I was thinking of doing this as plan B if it wasn't easy to swap the trims...

I've got the wooden trim in mine and it stands out like a sore thumb with the black leather. Nothing against anyone who has this but just doesn't look right for me.
I took the faceplate off the ashtray and it seems to be something applied to the plastic, it's almost as if it sprayed on.
Long story short, I have ordered a number of vinyl wraps (including gloss black if all else fails!) so just waiting for them to turn up to see what's what. I have ordered some black wood effect stuff which looked really nice in the pics.
Will add some pics when it's done if anyone is interested or is thinking of doing similar

Got all my trim bits wrapped this morning and it looks like a different interior all together, I love it!
Took about two hours in all, with a little "help" from my two year old.
Don't want to hijack the OP's post so if anyone wants more infor or pics, let me know and I'll do a thread

Thanks mate, I am very impressed with the look of it.
I bought mine online from vinylwarehouse.co.uk.
I ended up using Sheffield Oak Umbra. I bought a few different ones including a gloss black one but the Sheffield Oak looks really nice in person
Can send you an off cut if you want to have a look at it first
