Electrics totally died. Disco 3

Just replaced battery. Hitched up caravan to tow. Unhitched. Electric/Battery warning light came on. Left it overnight but battery totally dead. Fully charged it up but after 30 mins dead. Used boost from charger and it started, but on removing the connectors engine died. No power, even for central locking. Suggestions?

If a dodgy alt was able to discharge a healthy fully charged battery so quickly there'd likely be a a few smoke signals

Yep, been posted many, many times that a failing alternator can kill a perfectly healthy battery by causing a dead short.

If your battery is still connected to your car, I'd suggest you disconnect it but tbh, it's probably too late anyway now.

Sounds like a classic case of new battery and alternator required which is seriously bad for the wallet. Big Cry
Heed the warning however, if you only fit a new battery, your failed alternator will kill that too.

Thanks guys. I think alternator replacement first, then battery... Maybe both at once.
