Mystery of vanishing COD

I recently had my 2005 LR3 at my indy garage where they fixed a problem with the elec sunroof by clearing certain fault codes. Following this I lost the clock on the dash, which Geoff had installed a few years back, so I did a hard reset which restored it. So far, so good. A few days later the COD disappeard, leaving only the 4 .'s where the clock had been. I did another hard reset, the COD re-appeared but only for the 1st ignition cycle. When the engine was turned off & then re-started, the COD had gone again. I have since tried another 3 hard re-sets, all with the same result! The battery is less than 12 months old, is fully charged, all lights at the back work & obviously, the fuses are OK. In addition to this, various messages have displayed saying there is a park brake fault & auto release is not availabe. This has not been the case though, the EPB & auto release have been fine. There is also an intermittent fault with the rear park sensors. Could all these issues be related, is there perhaps a common ECU which may be causing a problem? I would be very grateful for any advice or help from anyone who may have a solution. Thanks in anticipation.

It may be indicative of a fault in the instrument display panel, usually caused by dry joints developing in the printed circuit board, I have had this on the D3 and on other cars. I have used a company in Hinkley called Cluster Repairs who have diagnosed and repaired them successfully for around £100. Their turnaround time by mail is pretty quick too.

An EPB fault and rear parking sensors are faults thrown up when xy sensors need recalibration
Another indication is the slow indication of what gear you are in, i have never heard of it throwing up the other errors you mention but worth a try
Do a search for the recalibration of xy sensors procedure

When my COD started showing --:-- it was down to low battery voltage, as are many other warning lights that appear. Have you checked the voltage with the engine running?

Thumbs Up fully re-charge the battery with a battery charger, not alternator, if it still happens its new battery time.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for your suggestions/advice. I have had the battery on trickle-charge for most of the day. It started by taking 4 amps, reducing to between 1 & 2 when I finished it. Did another hard re-set, went for a 20 mile run & when back home checked the voltage with engine running. The on-screen display showed 13.5 volts which, I believe, is what it should be. However, as it took so much charge earlier & the battery is still under warranty I will get it checked properly by the supplier. My COD has stayed with me after all this though Very Happy
