High mileage LR3
Hi I'm looking into buying a used LR3 & I just want to make sure I'm not buying a hunk of junk I've had many cars and I love the look of this SUV and the room and the features and the way it drives !!! I keep hearing negative things but I see a lot of great reviews and high ratings online ?! I'm looking at a 2006 with 130k miles on it tomorrow !!

Does it have a good service history? I would want to know what work has been done.
But then again it depends on condition and price.

Mine's just gone over 150,000 miles & going just fine (had belts done & a new turbo), not looking to move it one anytime soon either, plenty of life in it (hopefully - why do I write these things!)

Thanks for getting back to me everyone I found a 06 HSS with 81k on it for only 10900 but I'm still hearing such negative things from people , people I know but most of them have never owned a Rover ?! I'm so beside myself !! lol I really love the car !! And think it's such a good deal too !! I need an SUV with 3rd row seating and I'm not trying to spend a lot of money , please let me hear some more of your positive feedback

Well I wouldn't be without mine - had it for just over four years now & it comfortably seats seven when we need to (we have three kids so there's often an extra friend or two), tows our 24ft twin axle caravan without breaking sweat & occasionally gets its boots muddy at an off-road course then scrubs up well to become my daily transport for work, including visiting customers & doesn't look too shabby.
There's always going to be people that will knock a Land Rover, but they're very different animals from what they were in the 80's & 90's
mine is a 06 with over 200k on the clock if its well maintained inside and out and been looked after all its life its a great family car there realy are only two proviso's you either have to have deep pockets full of cash so you can pay a garage to do repairs and general maintenance or a decent tool kit and skils to use them in general there easy enough to work on and in my opinion an iid tool is worth its weight in gold and a must best £300 i have ever spent on kitRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car
Discovery 3 HSE 2006 gone but never forgotten

Hi and welcome
Assume its a V8 - very rare in the UK but I believe the engine is fairly bullet-proof - but I'm not really sure after that - there is a guy on this site from Utah that (I think) had a V8 D3, (Rossettaquarrier) - he might be worth a contact
Check all suspension works correctly and all electrics, check floor for damp (sun roof, if fitted, can leak), usual other checks on gear box changing, condition of oils etc
A full and detailed service history is essential - ideally with proof of preventative maintenance - if it hasn't got one, walk away.
Good luck
