Towing electrics and rear camera/sensors |
|
Am I correct in thinking the rear sensors should deactivate when the 13 pin electrics are used? (They did on my D3) - MY16 D4 with rear camera. The tow symbol lights when indicating but a load constant beep sounds in reverse until the sensors are manually switched off. Dealer forgotten to activate them?

I was wondering what would happen when towing. I was thinking about a Thule Easybase. Do the cameras switch off too?

I think they should. Mine has a factory fitted tow pack which I Haven't yet used but I could check it with a trailer board if that would be helpful?

Hi that would be helpful if you get a moment. I'm just assuming that as the dealer rushed my pdi (they had a week and left it until after I had left on a three hour journey) and failed to fix the external software issue they also failed to activate the tow electrics (dealer not factory). Cheers Adrian

Ok, so mine disables the rear parking sensors when the trailer board is connected and a message comes up on the parking sensor graphic screen (not the camera view) saying "Caution" "rear parking sensors disabled when trailer is connected".
Hope that helps?

Hi many thanks for checking - much appreciated. I now know that the (not very good) supplying dealer simply didn't do this. Cheers Adrian
