My D3 is in for some routine work and the dealer is recommending we replace the pads as "they're dangerously low!". Funny that the dealer recommended this ago during a service about 12 months ago and the wear sensor has not once lit since then. The service manager told my wife that the D3 didn't provide any warning, only the Range Rover....this was a LR main dealer!!
It's done 36k and when the sensor does light up I'll take it to an independant, who (incidentally) are over £120 cheaper too!

My pads have finally been changed. The warning light cam on about 300 miles ago. When the people at the garage (not LR who wanted £350+VAT to change the pads) took the brakes apart the pads were in a shocking (almost dangerous) state. I had about 2mm left on the rears and one of the front pads had delaminated and both had less than 1mm left.
The guys said that the warning light should have come on 1000s of miles before it actually did so be warned!

Dont know if your aware , but there is only 2 brake pad warning sensors.
1 on the N/S/F and the other on the O/S/R...
You just have to hope the brake pads were evenly G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

The wear on the front was even and the wear on the back was even too. And I was aware of there only being two sensors, but thanks anyway.
My points was that the sensors on mine left me with dangerous brakes before coming on.

They rarely do wear evenly, just hope they wear the ones with a sensor wear first.
Ground the disc on mine, fortunately just needed machining.
How much are the sensors? Could you put two more on and wire them to the other? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

After the main dealer telling me that the pads were 80% worn and me deciding to opt for getting an independent to replace them at a saving of £125, the RNS pad had worn to the metal and ruined the disc, no warning from either the dealer two days prior or the dashboard!!
Guess where the car is now...back at the main dealer! Looks like they'll all get replaced now!

I've just realised what the stray wire on the OSR wheel is. My sensor cable is currently flapping in the breeze I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Happened to me; the dealer didn't fit it right. Mine shorted and brake light came on. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
