Engine only starts on second pressof start button
This used to happen intermittently, but now seems to happen every time I attempt to start. Dash lights up, but engine doesn't start. On the second attempt all works well.
Could this be a dodgy switch on the brake pedal? Any other suggestions?

I noticed the same thing on mine recently and then realised it was simply the delay while the glow plugs did their thing on cold mornings. Could that possibly be it?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Depleted servo power, so just press harder on the brake.

Check the battery terminals. Even though they may be tightened up fully, you may be able move them by hand. If so, undo fully and spread the gap at the end of the terminal, so the clamp grips the battery post harder.
Could also be the starter motor on the way out. Mine died last weekend while offroad, at 4.5 years old and 130,000km.

Tried pushing harder on the pedal, seems to make no difference. If I keep hold of the button for ages, still no start, until I turn it off and then on again.
I'll have a look at the battery clamps and see if that helps.
Thanks all.

I think Robbies winding you up a tad - all it needs is the electrical circuit to be completed in the brake pedal.... Stew,
2010 D4 gone but I really loved it
Went back to Merc - C350 AMG
