Spare key fob not working

So I've recently bought a D4 and I got both keys. The seller said that he never used the second key and thought the battery was flat.
Today I changed the battery, but it still won't unlock the car, however when I press the headlight button, they work!

Is there a was to get this key working again? I've had a search about but all I can find is issues with the D3 keys going flat etc.

On the d4, you can change the battery easily enough, but if it's receiving the signal for lights on, could just be that it's not been actually programmed and the lights on signal is generic (I don't know either way)

Best get it plugged in, you can reprogram used d4 keys on other d4s easily enough. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Hmm, so is that a trip to a dealer?

Today I opened the car with the good key, and managed to start it with the spare but only after holding the key under the steering wheel
