Even if they do change their stance on off-road cover they'll need to cover accessories like winches, sump-guards etc. before they'll get a chance of wining lot of business back.
The change to Allianz behind LRI is complete joke, LR have allowed them to use their name but they won't cover many of their vehicles.
When I spoke to LRI customer services on 1st March I also asked about non-performance modifications (I have sliders, sump guard and AT tyres) - all covered, no problem. I didn't ask about winches. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

That was half the problem I was having with them. They told me remaps weren't and never had been covered but fair few peeps said they covered their car with this mod without any question. But they just stuck to their guns and same old line got trotted out. This was in the good old days of RSA, good to see same old same old.

OK chaps it gets worse .... it now seems that we have never been covered by LRI off road.
"Hi Hanah
Ref my message regarding Land rover Insurance. I Have owned 5 Discoverys from new over the last 13 years and I have in all of that time been with Land Rover Insurance who in addtion to the excellent benefits also covered my vehicle for off road use. We are not talking here about competitions, rallying, racing or time trials but for me occasionally driving in a forest or field. I checked every year that this level of cover was in place and was reassured that it was.
I had a letter from LRI to renew this week and when I asked the same question I was told categorically that any off road use would not be covered. I told the operative that this being the case I would have to go elsewhere for cover. I feel that having been a loyal customer to both LR & LRI it is completely ridiculous for off road cover not to be offered by your own insurance company given the "go beyond" promotion of the vehicles you sell.
My registration is **** *** and the LRI quote number is AL 128*****. I would like to have stayed with them and if you can clarify the situation I may yet return but I can't afford not to be covered when I'm in a field and I'm sure many others who own LR vehicles with LRI would be shocked to find that they aren't either.
Regards
DG"

Hi,
Thank you for your message.
I can confirm that I have spoken with Land Rover Insurance who have advised me that Off Road Insurance has never been included within their policy. May I apologise for any frustration or confusion caused.
I am aware that you have been advised differently and therefore I would politely advise you to contact them directly in order to discuss this matter further, this is due to data protection.
Please see the contact number provided for them below:
- 0800 917 0740
I can appreciate that this was not the response you were anticipating however this matter would need to be discuss with the Insurance Department directly.
Kind regards,
Hannah - Land Rover UK
Hi Hannah
The information you have been provided with is not correct and I am shocked that you are suggesting that I have been completely misled by LRI. I can find old documents from LRI which prove that they have covered this in the past and as all calls are recorded no doubt they could check back to hear what was said last year confirming the cover.

I wonder if anyone has had a claim accepted or rejected?
It is totally laughable, let's sell an off road vehicle and not provide insurance........ You couldn't write that.
I have off road cover for my defender from elsewhere, it was only when I checked for another reason that I saw in the very small print, it only covered me and one other in the car.
I think the lesson is get it in writing and check the small print before you need it!Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Russell I made contact with Hannah via facebook & twitter and we have been communicating via the PM facilities on there.
Ultimately it is clear that LRI are unable to discuss my account with LR due to data protection therfore it seems that LRI are just advising Hannah to advise me to contact them directly. Which I will do shortly.

Can I suggest that you call LRI customer services on 0330 1000470 and see what they tell you?
When I called them on 1st May, they were very clear that non-competitive off-road use IS covered.
It will be interesting to see if they tell you the same.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

This is infuriating
I have just got off the phone to a senior chap at LRI and the vehicle is definitely covered for off-road use excluding paid events, trials competitions etc.
I clarified specifically that it would be covered driving off a legally defined road \ highway and into field(s), woodland \ forest and beach.
So does that exclude LRE events then!?!?!?!?Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Member of Gloucestershire & Worcestershire 4x4 Response.

Seems a lot of hassle just to drive on to the start line at the Pot Noodle.
Agreed, if cover is good it's worth holding out for but at some point it be becomes more hassle than it's worth. Like I found with LRI a number of years ago, ditched them and and never looked back.
