Faulty fuel guage ... local generic garage or dealership ?
Morning all,
So my MY11 Disco is showing that it has NO fuel in it whatsoever, even though it was pretty much filled to the brim by hubster this weekend. Last weekend I had a little 'blip' with it showing it was empty but then after a few minutes sorted itself out and showed the correct level.
However it has been stuck for the last 3 days as empty and I'm getting the empty warning sign flashing up. Also means timed climate won't work (although that is a superficial problem for the moment).
Do you know if this is an easy fix or one that might be more tricky and necessary for the experts to get involved ?

Assuming it is not a wiring issue from the sender.
It will require the fuel tank to be dropped and the one or both of the fuel senders to be replaced. the rear fuel sender is relative easy, the front one is more difficult got to reach all the way down to the front of the tank to replace.

I filled my 2010 D4 up yesterday and a few miles later I had no line on my fuel guage and the warnings pop up. Still there today so looking like I need to get it sorted out
Can anyone recommend somewhere in Worcestershire or West Mids?
Just had a quote and got turned off by the "mamouth task" and £££'s they were talking about!
I've had the fuel gauge problem intermittently for about a month. Last weekend, the engine started cutting out too.
Dropped it into my local independent. Had the sender units replaced and all fine now.
£200 all in. Parts are only about a fiver, but the cost is dropping the tank and refitting.
I'd recommend my local guy, I use him for all servicing now I'm out of warranty.

Two sender units for a fiver?
The problem is usually just the connectors inside the tank. Landrover have a TSB on this issue. You drop the tank, cut out the offending connectors and fit crimp connections.
The no fuel burning heater is because the vehicle is preserving fuel, because it thinks you are empty.
On the D4' The poor running is a fuel safe strategy which causes a misfire, then if it thinks you are about to run out of fuel, it will allow you to drive for a mile, then it cuts out, but allows you to restart and drive another mile and so on. This, in the event of running out of fuel, would help save the high pressure pump, by making you feel like you have run out, before you actually do..... It doesn't know the information from the tank is wrong.

I didn't pay for mine to be repaired.
I don't know whether JLR paid for mine or if they approached my warranty company.

If it's under 3 year warranty then it is covered.
If it's under an extended warranty then it is covered.
If you think that Landrover should warrant any part likely to become faulty, for any time scale, I doubt if you will get much joy from them.

No not at all. Still doesn't make me pleased to be about shell out the £286 Ive been quoted....especially when the service notification coincided with the issue
