MY16 - Does the passenger mirror dip in reverse gear? |
|
Personally, I loathe this particular function. Ive just watched a video on a 2016MY D4 and the guy said the passenger mirror dipped when reverse is selected?
I do a lot of towing with 18ft trailers, if this is the case I'm going to disconnect the wires!!

When they are set correctly they are one of the best and most usful extra you can have, I have just fitted a new memory module on mine at a cost of £185 and I am over the moon to have them working again, and I have rear and front cameras, I regularly tow a 16 foot Iffor Williams trailer with a load wider than the trailer and find them indispensable, the seats have three memory positions that also operate the mirrors, I have number two setting for when I have a wide load, just press the button and the mirrors move to that setting without moving the seats, this also includes the rear mirrors when reversing magic
As Wiggs says they can be set easily to your liking, if they are on the factory setting and pointing to the ground yes they are rubbish just the same as any rear view mirror if it is not set to suit the driver. Once set they return to this setting whenever reverse is selected- hence the need for a memory module. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just a point here. There are rules on how much you should be able to see behind a trailer using the mirrors.
When towing most caravans you probably need to have extended mirrors or you are not running legally.
A lot of people scoff when they see a rig with extended mirrors but you can be done by Plod, especially if in an incident. Stew,
2010 D4 gone but I really loved it
