To avoid "reinventing the wheel", has anyone found a way to increase the storage for driver's essentials such as phone, sunglasses, gummies, camera, etc? The huge sloping top to the dash is a terrible waste of space. The tiny tray above the transmission controls is almost useless.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Swap to a D3 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!
You don't know just how apt that comment is! My list of things that were much better on the D3 is well into double figures. Even my girlfriend bemoans not getting flowers any more since there is no holder on the dash!A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. You can get lil in door handle trays off eBay 2 for £15 quid to improve storage
Yes. On the far left of the dash, below the air vent. Pops out if you prod it. Stick a bunch of flowers out of your favourite supermarket in there next time the significant female in you life will be entering your vehicle and wonderful things will happen for you.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Ah, mine doesn't have that. Saves me buying flowers and at my age would be a bit worried if wonderful things started happening coz of a few glorified weeds.

I think the roof nets in the D2 were great; as were the slots above the sun visors which held a couple of OS maps.
I used to have a VW Caravelle (the old style with the engine at the back - a fantastic vehicle) and there were lots of aftermarket add-ons including a molded tray which fitted on top of the dashboard on the passenger side. It was great for sunglasses, phones etc. But that was before the days of airbags which I suppose would make it difficult to design something for the D3/4.

It's done to stop you leaving valuables such as phone, sunglasses, gummies, camera on display 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

My sunglasses get clipped into the grab handle above the driver's door - drop the handle down, fire the glasses through the gap and let it fold back up to 'grab' the bit where your nose normally goes...
Otherwise, the storage is fairly limited...D4 Commercial - 65 Plate, 2016MY
D5 Commercial - Handed back when I left that job…
D4 Commercial (2014MY) - gone
D4 Commercial SDV6 - Baltic Blue (also gone)
D1 300TDi... 2" lift, HD bumpers (both), detachable tow hitch, 9,500lb winch, 235/85/16 muds and plenty of other toys (gone to make way for the next toy...)
Smiles per Mile - Tornado Motorsports caged Evo 3... 100" Defender look-alike, with Range Rover running gear - all fully IVA'd and registered!

How do people use that bit of open storage in the boot on the side panel? It would be useful if it had a net or door on it so I can shove the seat covers in.
