It's usually the sun roof drain being blocked that causes this but the drain outlet can also become detached and allow the drained water to flow into the cabin instead.
Have you tested the sun roof drains to ensure they're flowing outside? Mods:

Yep, if you've no sunroof, the next place to check is the pollen filter. Mods:

Good Afternoon, and thank you to all who have responded so far. I've checked pollen filter, which incidentally was changed last September. Its bone dry. I have this morning managed to lift the centre of the carpet about 2/3inches and its like a lake underneath, and the sound deadening foam is absolutely sodden. Checked the radiator header tank and its got water in it, so I've ruled out problems with the heater matrix. My main concern is taking the carpet out, once I get that out I'll be able to see where the waters coming from. Do I have to remove the front seats or is it just a case of brut force. Any help and advice as always will be greatly received and appreciated. Joined Aug 2014. Disco 3 SE 54plate, Buckingham Blue, Cream leather.

Has it had a new windscreen fitted at any time?
Mine leaked when I had a new one. Also the A pillar trim can let in water through the fixing points I believe.

Only had the rear out of mine but the front one that came with the rears I bought was in one piece
So you will need to remove seats, centre console and more than likely some other stuff in the footwell

Finally... I've partially removed the carpet. I had to remove the passenger seat. I have added a few photos to my gallery. Managed to dry out the water approximately 3ltrs, mainly in the channel where the wiring loom sits. The problem I now have is; the water is coming in through a seam in the bodywork to the rear of the A Post level with the top of the dash.(see photo), the seam in question is above the bottom fixing hole for the A Post trim, which if I'm correct is where the water gets into the A Post, and as we all know, water does not run uphill. Any ideas please.

I have a simlar problem and I have found out it had a new windscreen fitted a month before I bought it. Is it possible to that if I went to a windscreen fitters they could take it out and refit it properly or would I need a new one. I have replaced A piller trims and it has helped but not stopped it altogether I have also cleared sunroof drains. Sorry to hi jack your thread

Not at al.l the more the merrier, at least that way I/we might get to the bottom of the problem. I find it hard to believe that so much water could get into the foot-well via a small hole of the A Pillar fixing clips. If it was leaking around the windscreen seal, wouldn't I see water elsewhere i.e. along the dash.

With mine, the only place I can see water coming in is if I drop the headlining and spray water onto the windscreen. I can then see a small amount coming in at the top of the screen, in front of where the passenger sits. However it appears to run across the car in a channel in the headlining and drops down into the driver's side footwell.
I've got a new scuttle panel and will get new A-pillar trims too, then at some point figure out what to do about the windscreen, which obviously needs re-fitting/replacing.
I do wonder if water is getting in through numerous places though, maybe a combination of dodgy sunroof drains and poor sealing around the windscreen. Cheers,
Gareth
