d4 to d3 conversion
I could well be wrong here, but I don't think anybody has done a d4 to d3 facelift as yet.
i'm assuming it would be as straight forward as the other way around, but does the o/s wing vent actually do anything on a d4?Just remember:-

Presume it's straight forward but why would you want to?

Well nearlee I think you are correct in assuming that nobody has done it.
However, there could be several reasons that someone might want to change the appearance of a D4 back to a D3.
- the neighbours need to believe that you are not as wealthy as you appear to be, or
- you really appreciate the 'retro' look, or
- like some people who stick on aerofoils and other appurtenances, etc. you might want to really devalue your D4 by making it look like a D3, (in this instance devalued only in comparison to a D4), or
- none of the above; you just wondered if it was possible (like fitting a TDV8 engine with a relevant VIN coded into a D3 body. Now that would be a challenging conversion.).
And no nearlee, you are not on the right track if you think the O/S air vent does nothing on a D4. It is the air intake on the D4 (and D3). It is the N/S vent that is an ornament only unless you are driving a LHD version. If so, disregard this information.
HTH you make an informed decision about converting a D4 to a D3's appearance if that is why you asked the question. <g>LeighW
The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

well some interesting responses.
@SN
considering your driving a jap pickup maybe not the best response
reason's
well firstly I really like the chunky look of the D3, but the extra refinement and that 3ltr engine are calling.
secondly well in my industry, if I turn up to work in something flashy then the responses are you must be charging a fortune etc. even though my outfit suits my line of work an access issue's.
and thirdly, curious and like being a little different Just remember:-

Its your car and your choice. Having seen some of the mods done to members cars on here then it wont be the worst idea.
At the end of the day do what you want. I can't imagine that it would be very complicated, after all the D4 conversion is very simple.

I prefer the look of the D3 so if I get D4 I like to do the same. How many mid life model face lifts look crap cause the budget is low and the A team stylists have moved ontonthr next clean sheet of paper design..look at tacky chrome on latest 5 series facelift utter shiittt

That looks great. I'd still chose the full D3 look, but the grille tones it down nicely and the wheel arches make it look all the more purposeful. For a starter ...... or even just for the D3.5 look one could always body colour the front grill.
It's body coloured on the D3, but never seen it done on a D4
(apart from black with black pack)
Now who's going to be first.
(photoshop anyone .... .)...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I've always thought the original D3 was the best looking. Painted grill and plastic arches all complement the "Tonka Toy" styling IMO.
The D3 style grill and arches in the above pictures looks brilliant I think. I also like the idea of colour coding the D4 grill. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
