| Loss of Power & engine management light. |

Good morning all,
Happy New Year.
SWMBO tells me last night 'something strange happened today, the car died and the yellow light on dash came on'
When asked if it was the first time 'no it happened twice this week' 
Thanks to this great forum and a quick search I knew it was the 'EGR' valve.
Not being at all good with tools or anything mechanically - I rang the AA.
AA - LR specialist arrived with 15mins read fault code - 'PO489' EGR failure.
AA man then removed the pipes a quick squirt of cleaner fluid I assume - some kind of clean up'
Reattached - a few attempts to start then fine.
Quick road test more responsive  so happy chappy.
He then checked for faults and all clear 
I also have BRC cover with the AA, whilst on road test he had rang them to confirm if it happens again they will cover cost (up to £500) of the repair.
All in all the AA took around an hour to arrive, diagnosis and repair. 
Today I will be ringing my local Indy for second opinion and pricing up what will be a future repair/ replacement or blank!
Once again without this wonderful forum and its members - I could have been told anything.

Women are great 
In wifes car last week and said to her whats that noise from the osr? what noise she replied  turned out to be broken spring.
Now Ive noticed her engine has a slight rattle when fired up from cold, bit like her really! she again said what noise?

lynalldiscovery - had a similar issue when the wheel bearing failed - her response was to turn the radio up louder
Bodsy - Thanks - I will keep an eye on it over the coming weeks then may drop you a line. From memory it was a nice little drive up to yours
We are currently in a position of debating changing for D4 although SWMBO like the Volvo's and the new Ford Edge.
