Volunteering with a Discovery

Hi all,

My local 4x4 response group requires membership of the Land Rover group as well which is a little long winded.

Is there any other groups or organisations around that are good to join?

With the incoming snow, happy to help where possible

Hi Jack,

Do you mean the national 4x4 Response organisation?

http://www.4x4response.info/

It's not normal practice to have to be a member of the local LR Group to join 4x4 Response UK. Unless you mean a regional groups, which may require it. Some have stopped this practice these days.

If you decide to get involved with volunteering, I would highly recommend 4x4 Response UK. Being a national group, it helps to tie everything and everyone together under the same umbrella / rule / regs / practices.

.....and insurance. The National 4x4 Response network gives valuable additional insurance under certain circumstances (not ALL circumstances).

As a Surrey member I can point out you don't join the National. The regional groups themselves can affiliate to the National.

It's worth pointing out that not all groups are equal though, some have minimum standards that must be met, others don't. For example Surrey require that all members have a safe vehicle, in no means does it need to be heavily modded, a current first aid certificate and undertaken DEFRA's water awareness 1st course (classroom based) since most of our work is flooding related.

With regards to insurance I know Surrey have our own insurance set up because the National didn't cover all we needed at the time. There are other issues that have arisen with National but they'll be going off topic.

(By the way I have used both the 322 and 110 for events)
