But if it only tells you that it's for instance 900mm deep when it gets to the wing mirrors then you are already screwed and you might as well await the friendly local to upload their mobile phone footage to social media. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Don't forget that with MY16s the water level will be that bit higher as they live in a world that is 3c warmer.

Hi, I am new to this but am keen to understand the capability of the D3. For information, I too have side steps fitted and as I gather the sensor won't detect until water is higher than the step??
Do the sensors work automatically and display a message indicating depth? I do you have to activate in some way?
How waterproof is the cabin?
Lots of naive questions but it's good to know I think

A D3 doesn't have wading sensors. I think its only the most recent D4's, either MY15 or 16 on.
I believe the cabin is fairly waterproof, to the point where flotation is more of a risk than flooding. Though others with more offroad/wading experience might have different information.

Thanks Swansty, much obliged.
I'm not one for shooting off into deep waters but it is always good to know just in case. Can I say that taking it steady things would be ok to mid door hgt perhaps?
I havent a snorkel fitted so I would not go anywhere near the air intakeBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

Yep, someone here wrote his car off as it floated down the river. When the message "going into extended height" (or words to that effect) comes up in the dash you have stared yo float. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Surely it's best practice to know how deep the water is before you enter it, ie get out and use a stick or small child Cheers Ian

Agree with that hairy Dan, mine went "light" and travelled a sideways a couple of metres the other week in water I know very well. Was probably just on the wade depth limit at the time but it was extremely windy. Check the water and consider wind too! It scared the cr@p out of me.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
