Getaway show this weekend |
|
Spoke to BRS this morning re the skid plate . Karl was unavailable so I couldn't get any pricing or availability but they did mention that there would be a fully kitted D3 at the show . Probably worth a visit

Thanks Heine,
Any response from Karl re the Mantec plate?
Does the ARB bullbar include any under body protection?
How does the ARB bullbar work with the Mantec plate(s)?
Lastly, how was the show?

The show was about the same as always - I only really went to see BRS (very nice display BTW)
Karl can do both the Mantec skidplates , but he was too busy so we didn't really discuss pricing.
Front Runner had a D3 there with an ARB bull bar and winch combo . Not sure how that will tie up with the skidplate though . Maybe you should give Karl a call and pick his brain

BRS stand was easily the best IMHO, at least if you were looking for D3 stuff.
The silver D3 that was at Front Runner's stand was the one that we accompanied to Angola. It belongs to Eugene at Nandos. That thing has been roughed-up, that's for sure. It is the one with the first long range tank fitment (mine is 2nd). According to Eugene he used the winch constantly on the skeleton coast part of the trip (ie. before we joined them) so if it hasn't broken something yet, it probably won't. If I am not mistaken, Front Runner did the winch & bar installation.
Interesting fact - those STT's that were on the vehicle were not the tyres he used for the Kingsley trip. He actually used HT's - they went OK, but I reckon he threw them away after he got home. My STT's (as you witnessed on Richard's vehicle) lived on to serve another day. And they were much better in the sand because of the increased flotation

Re STT's, I thought they would dig in on sand. However, I can understand that they would "float" better due increased footprint.
What is their speed rating (on long haul to get off tar)?
The extra rim set special with LRSA: still on? LRCT is quiet or do not (want) to know.

AP the rim thing was from LR Sandton. I got the impression it was pretty much at the DP's discretion as to what they will offer . Why not just buy a cheap aftermarket rim as a 2nd spare

Thanks Heine,
I have six rims already, so I'm looking for a second set.
I saw someone on this forum got a second set aftermarket rims at a reasonable price.
Any ideas where/ what?
Better to go for 17inch?

I bought 6 from Autosport in Midrand . They are X5 knockoffs and are a bit bling but not too bad
