AUTO DIPPING MIRROR

Ok, another day and another question.

My D3 has an annoying habit of when you select reverse gear the mirrors dip... Brilliant, but what isn't so good is that the passenger side doesn't always return back to its preset positron.. It does sometimes but most of the time it doesn't it only moves about half way back.

I had a P38 Range Rover years ago and that had the same issue.

Is this a common problem and of so is there a trick to solve it.

I've tried adjusting the mirror and setting the seat memory quite a few times

Many thanks

Tony

Mine does this occasionally, if I press my seat present button they return to normal position.

I have had other cars with dipping mirrors but this one is mad, the lhs dips fine but the drivers side dips and keeps on going twice as far! All I can see is the drivers door handle and below, I can't see any cars next to me or behind.
Can the amount of dip be changed?

From the owners manual

Windows and mirrors
R
Electric operation
With the rotary knob in
the central position,
push the knob downwards to fold the mirrors.
Push the knob downwards again to unfold the
mirrors.
If the mirrors are accide
ntally knocked out of
position (i.e. with one mirror folded and the
other in the normal pos
ition), an additional
operation of the switch will re-synchronise
them.
Reverse mirror dipping
Vehicles with driver’s seat memory have a
function which dips the exterior mirrors
whenever reverse gear is selected, giving the
driver a view of the kerb.
When this feature is first used, the mirrors will
dip to a preset position.
The degree of dipping
can be programmed using the following
sequence:
1.
Turn the starter key to position
I
or
II
. Do
not start the engine.
2.
Select or store a driver’s seat memory
position. See
MEMORY FUNCTION
(page 138).
3.
Select reverse gear, the exterior mirrors
will adjust to a preset position.
4.
Adjust the mirrors to the required dipped
position.
5.
Perform a memory store procedure on the
currently selected driving seat position.
6. DOOR MIRROR DIP STORED
will be
displayed on the message centre
accompanied by a single chime.
This feature can be enab
led or disabled. See

Brill thanks!

Bizzarely my mirrors have changed, without doing anything they now dip half as much and then move outwards. All that has changed is I have gained a et drivers carpet from a leak somwhere to be investigated.

Fixed the dip level but it did not stop me from reversing in to a tiny car!
My nearside mirror is fully inwards but still I cannot see the side of my car body so it is facing the pavement!
