Agree with comments so far it is all bit messy. I think LR have lost a fair few sales of Range Rover due to lack of space and practicality. I for one had a FFRR ordered this year but bottled it in the end because of space in the boot. Dealer was supportive and said they had quite a few customers in the same predicament. LR need something luxury but with a bigger boot than the current FFRR its way too compromised on practicality. They should have made the LWB FFRR configurable for larger boot as well as limousine.
The disco should be more utilitarian - the ultimate high end family car.

LR said described the Disco Sport as premium but practical, and that isn't going down well.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

i'm afraid to similar to others as usual range now becoming like BMW every car same.On the bright side those Chinese should bring out a similar car for third of the price.Unless it looks better in flesh not to my liking.
Still their is always the Fpace JAG £34k perhaps way to go.
Lifestyle doesn't suggest a price bracket, just that it is a practical vehicle. LR is a company and its sole purpose in life is to make money they are going to produce cars that make them the most money, not what the LR enthusiasts want as most of them don't buy new anyway.
LR should be looking to distance themselves from "lifestyle vehicles" as much as possible - they are the imitations, bought by posers; LR should be marketing itself as "the real thing" (which will appeal to the posers even more) because it is in a position to do so.
At the end of the day, though, the correct range of vehicles at the right price is what will sell. A narrower more similar range of cars isn't going to give as greater market opportunity and they are simply distancing themselves from many more customers. You have to be in the minds of your potential customers, even if they aren't buying now.
Someone has been thinking and come up with this idea that they should make their vehicles more upmarket and expensive, but the idea just won't hold up forever. I don't doubt that the idea has also sprung from LRs reputation for "poor reliability". A high-end customer, buying a new vehicle every 3/2/1 years is going to be far less concerned than someone looking to buy a practical family vehicle that they want to last, so their sales are going upmarket. They are so full of themselves because they're doing well, that they see it as "high-end sales increasing" rather than "relatively poor low-end sales". LR is resting on it's laurels right now.
What they need to do, is take a step back frrom their own self-importance, and produce some premium quality vehicles for the lower end of the market and shake of their reliability reputation.

My prediction is, that in 20+ years' time, good D3/4s will be as sought after as 2-door Rangie Classics are now. So hang on to yours, give it tlc, and watch it hold its value.

Can't see it personally. Too many big repair bills will write off a D3...My D3 Build Thread

Exactly. Especially as the prices drop and they end up with owners who can't/won't/don't maintain them, or turn them into daft Ollie-off-road monsters.
Which is why those that are looked after will appreciate in value.

Interesting how JLR appear to have surrendered the 'basic SUV' market to Mitsubishi et al and recent sales of the Defender appear to be dominated by buyers who want a pimped-up version to look cool in.
It does seem clear that the next Defender, in 3 years time, will be what many current Disco owners will be looking for.
Happy and safe Christmas to one and all. I'm happy with the one I'v got .

I agree with all Lost for Words and Brian_DL123 say.
I don't want a more upmarket or blingy Discovery with it's ever increasing cost but will wait to see what the Defender replacement is like - if it ever arrives as I suspect JLR don't really want to make it due to the lack of profit - hasn't it been put back twice now ?
So I may have to go back to Japanese as I did after my FFRR reliability or rather lack of it meant I thought I would not have another LR product again.
What really concerns me is that JLR may well loose its way if it ignores the very thing which differentiated it's cars - off road ability and practicality.
