Pyrennes/Alps off road routes
Has anyone got any routes or suggestions for route books or gpx tracks for off road routes in the mountains of France - want to go off-roading (nothing too extreme) this summer. Multi-day trips fine too.
Ideally books in English but French ok if necessary.
Mostly in French but good. Both road books and gpx files. Mark.

I'm over from defender2.net and I'm currently researching this as well.
wikiloc only have a few tracks over the pyrenees. I'm reluctant to pay for any of the road books as I really don't know how good they are or if they will be of any use.

Our route this year was all cobbled together routes from Wikiloc and it was ace
Our route was only 4/5 days as it was part of a bigger trip but starting in Collioure and ending in Andorra worked nicely for us
The best bit was probably the smugglers route and there are loads of routes which include it on Wikiloc
If you're really struggling; with a bit of effort I can pull off the route names I used to make a route.....

Thanks for that. I don't necessarily need exact routes. What would be really great would be just some recommendations, some stretches which were particularly good. Or towns/places/sites (& camp sites) particularly worth visiting.
If there's anything we should stay away from that's valuable info too!
The road books from Vibraction are excellent - have used them for 4 different trips myself, with others from Disco3Club and others have used them as well.
The cost of them is tiny compared to the other costs and are well worth it IMHO.Mark.

Roads books are worth the money as you get much more than a route; fuel stns, shops, accommodation, history, culture etc ... ...Club N.E.R.D.s

I wouldn't put much trust in that site.
I've had a quick look in Scotland and for example Edinburgh to Loch Lomond, up the M9 motorway, and Edinburgh to Arbroath crossing the Forth Road Bridge and on the M90 and A90 etc, are listed as offroad routes!
