MOT Test Centres in Southampton
Anyone know of any trustworthy MOT centres in and around Southampton?
I got the MOT done last year at Mr Clutch and it passed with flying colours but for some reason after a trouble free year i'm nervous about going back
West 4x4 serviced it earlier this year and it will be going back again in spring - do you think is it worth paying the extra £25 to get Mark to do it Stolen - D4 Loire Blue
D4 Bali Blue

In my experience Yes.
His local MoT man seems to be OK too, I guess he does lots of Land Rovers referred from Mark, so he knows what to look for.

Past LRs - Multiple FFRs, Discos & a Series I - some petrol, some diesel,
none Electric or H2 fuel cell - yet.

Agree with Nigel, having had my cars serviced and MoT'ed by Mark in the past.
However, I have recently started using the Eastleigh Borough Council MoT Test Centre in Hedge End with two successive passes in recent years now that I do much of my own maintenance.
Mr. Clutch possibly comes below Halfords and Formula One Autocentres in the Periodic Table of "Chain" car "repair" businesses, Nick.

HCC also offer MoT tests for £50 plus free re-test if necessary:-

Hampshire County Council is offering a new MOT testing service to car and other vehicle owners at the Bishops Waltham and Totton workshops of it's vehicle services division, Hampshire Transport Management.
Licensed by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) and approved by Trading Standards the workshops are offering MOT testing for up to eight-seat passenger vehicles (class 4) for £50 and £55 for larger passenger and goods vehicles (classes 5 & 7).
A free re-test is offered for for vehicles failing the MOT and requiring repairs or replacements.
The while-you-wait service, by appointment only, is expected to be of interest to members of the public and operators of public service and commercial vehicles looking for a quality service from a reliable supplier in the Bishops Waltham and Totton areas.
I took one of my MGs to Bishop's Waltham recently. It didn't need an MoT test but I like the independent inspection.

Thanks both Last year was a last minute job and I didn't think it about it too much
But now i'm planning it in good time I'm over thinking it and expecting the sucking of the teeth when they mention rusty pipes and the likes
I used to get my previous cars MOT'd and serviced at the same time as I felt it took some of the pain away but the timings aren't right for this one.
Formula One Autocentres sound good - do they have a good pit crew
I love how everyone states "free re-test" - well, the MOT center is obliged to give a free re-test!
An MOT is an MOT, they all work off the same rule book, which you can look at online - mind you where I used to live there was a garage who got the nick name of Blind Bob's MOT's....
Just my view :pSi

Halfords at Fareham (the one just off the A27 by Currys PC World and just up the road from B&Q) had their MOT test fee at £35 the last time I was there. Not put my Disco through there but did put my Dad's Focus through and they did a good job.

I wouldn't trust haulfrauds Fareham with a bicycle, let alone a disco. Workmates dad had his entire brake system stripped off as they claimed it was all rusty, had been replaced 2 months before when it was! And I've seen them trash & thrash customers cars with my own eyes, the Renal 5 above and the customers Vectra they burnt the clutch trying to recover it!

Indeed. I would never entrust my D3 with any of those "chain" auto centres of any kind.
The only* people who touch my D3 are me, geoff., Flack, and Mark West.
* Although I admit it did go into Hunters Southampton the other day for the Q393 removable tow ball check.

On headlamp alignment technician adjusted them himself and it passed
