Well being new to Land Rover I now find myself with a couple of faults..
I just purchased a 2009 discovery 3, 71000 from new with full service although not all LR.
Yesterday it came up with an engine fault, I took it to a local garage who say the code relates to turbo actuator.
After reading through similar posts and checking for a sticking actuator arm, which it was initially. I made up a small metal rod and proceeded to free it off. This took a little time as it was initially solid. It now moves very freely.
Took it out a test drive and noticed a difference and then today it went back to almost nothing. Checked the actuator rod again which was free. I pushed the actuator rod away from the passenger wheel, took it a drive and was brilliant.
The problem I have is it seems the actuator is not operating even though it's free.
Can anyone suggest additional checks or potential faults.
The last thing I want to do is start pulling it apart before I exhaust all potentials.

Hi Lee, I had the same fault a few months ago. My LR tech friend showed me to look for the actuator arm moving when you turn on the ignition. There is a cycle to keep it from seizing up. My fault was actually boost pipe had a split in it. Replaced it and all working fine.

Thanks Tom, I did look for a cycle of the actuator when the ignition was switched on and even after stopping the engine. Unfortunately no movement was noted...
I will also check the boost hoses in the morning
