I had to wrap up early today but tomorrow I’ve had a pass from swmbo to “bloody get on with it” as she so elequantly put it. Lots of photos coming soon and if anyone wants certain photos or anything please feel free to request.
Gstuart. Yep. Cross over pipe. That’s not split !!!!!! Although no brackets fitted so it wasn’t going to last long. It may be cracked but I didn’t have time to look properly. I believe my leak is somewhere around the turbo.
It’s going to be a big picture heavy write up guys get ready.
I bet mate and indeed thought that’s it ive had enough for today
Oh bloody hell ref the cross over pipe but as u rightly say won’t last long without the bracket
With the body off its Like having a looking glass and being able to gain considerably easier access , at least now u can sit on the chassis and plod away with having to double up trying to get at something
If u get chance would u be so kind to take some pics of the rear brakes lines from the rear wheels to the front please, that would be awesome , always easier actually seeing a pic of the route , many thks
PS, is it too soon mentioning I finished my drivers side wishbone today

So that’s the weekend covered then
Hats off to u and great that at least u will now have tons of access
Did it take u long to unbolt everything
Looking forward to some more piccies plse as u progress and indeed invaluable seeing underneath for further reference
Brake pipes around 5 minutes.
Body bolts around 2 minutes with an air impact wrench and 15mm impact socket with extension. 2 bolts had to be undone with a power bar first. Other 8 just wound out. It is scarily quick to separate.
Oh wow , that’s a result

It does seem so strange to have so much access after what I went through trying to get at things before.
Ref brake pipe pics, will do mate i’ll Do a full set of them tomorrow.
Well done with the wish bones. That’s a commendable job they look a right pig !
I don’t want to jinx it but it looks like mine has a new compressor in the case too !Jarrod

Hi
Bless u ref the brake pipe pics plse , will be very handy to keep them in a folder on my iPad for future ref ,many thks
Indeed , I even looked how much it would cost to even hire a post lift or go to a garage and borrow one, then there was getting there and back or silly money setting a lift ramp on my driveway , req proper strength etc etc , list goes on , so that was off the cards
Asked about getting the body removed and chassis returned to my drive for me to complete at my leasure , nope , quotes yet again ran into silly money
I might forgive my D3 in about 6 x months for being such a ref the wishbones,
Happy days if you’ve got a new compressor
Have u done a final parts list, or is it get a large black board and write up parts as u req them
I’ll get my coat

No problem ref pics at all. You’ve guided me into so many helpful threads ! It’s only fair !
It’s a shame you don’t live closer or you could use mine no problem. Saying that if body off becomes a necessity we could arrange something I’m sure. Be glad to help out too !
I looked at so many options. In the end one came up at the right time and price.
I’ve got a preliminary list of larger stuff eg rear upper arms timing belt kit, got my modified cross over pipe ready, rear prop etc but started listing all the gaskets bolts nuts seals etc and it’s a long list ! Once it’s finalised i’ll Order the whole lot from AF or go see John in Bearmach. I’ll publish the “finished” list tomorrow or Monday. Jarrod

indeed could have also given u a hand if I’d been closer
Wow, what a Fantastic offer there and thank u as if it came to it the dogs would also think it’s a lovely holiday in the countryside ,
Indeed know there’s so much involved with the post lifts but such a fantastic tool to have
Just write ur list out in small writing so it doesn't look as many parts
Thks again ref the lift and another reason I like the forum so much where everyone helps other fellow members
Cheers

Would have been so much easier if Land Rover had installed a credit card machine into the dashboard

Great thanks mate ! Got all the brake pipe making kit and ends. Went a bit mental in the D1 days and have loads of the ends from kits etc.
The stainless brake flexies come with the short metal pipes ! So that’s one good thing.
When you say rear pump belt and tensioner I assume you mean the rear timing belt ? Doesn’t that come with the kit ?
I’ll add the other bits to my list.Jarrod

Another thing I thought of, plse don’t throw anything at me,
Will u need a new crankshaft bolt and a crankshaft seal and tool for it ???
Yes the rear timing belt , one that drives the fuel pump , indeed would assume it comes as a kit
Anti freeze
Great you’ve got all the brake fittings, have u got mini pipe bender
Brake pipe body securing clips
Oh , water pump whilst everything is off
I think I better keep quite now

I won’t be throwing things at you mate. I’d rather someone tell me the essentials than me find out the hard way !
Anti freeze, got some ready
Crank pully bolt and seal fitting tool ? Didn’t realise there was a tool for fitting the oil seal. I must have missed that ! Where do I get that tool ?
I will check if the rear belt is part of the kit ! Good thinking.
Got a mini pipe bender. Hadn’t thought of clips.
Water pump ? I didn’t realise we were changing these also ?
Bearmach shop is 5 minutes away so hopefully if I forget bits like clips etc it won’t hold me up too badly.
