Hey budd,
Well basically. When I did all the work in August I think I misread that the front diff takes 0.6L of oil for some reason. Also what breather ? There isn’t one. Just a hose tail sticking out the top. I did replace the oil seals because they were not very good and when I took the diff out to repair the turbo drain the fluid came out was rank. Thick brown goo. so I think I’ve cooked it. I put new fluid in but I’m sure I can hear a drone which doesn’t change on corners so think diff rather than wheel bearing. Don’t know if they can be rebuilt at home or is it a specialist job ?
Mate your links are always useful ! Thankyou !!!
Hope your on the mend ? Jarrod

Hi mate
I read that if the front diff breather gets blocked it can blow the seals
Cut my old one off, extended it round to my aux battery location and fitted the modified breather , u can just see it , RH side of my brake reservoir
Enclosed some pics including the part number for u

Hi buddy,
Fabntastic links and info as always ! Bearing change looks easy enough, I’ll do that ASAP. The breather I’m looking to do at the same time, I have a roll of the hard plastic tube. I’m thinking to use some black rubber hose to connect it to diff end and then find a route up to the engine bay with that part you’ve pictured on the top.
Thanks again buddy. Jarrod

Hi mate
Ur very welcome
Think I used 4mm plastic tube, fitted a pushfit coupling on the end of the breather pipe before extending it
That’s a good idea ref the rubber tubing , also see reports of the starter cable that can rub against the front diff , think it was the starter cable
Always happy to help where I can mate

Hi budd, yes I got a roll of 4mm pipe from when I did my D1 breathers. I’ll use that.
The next search is the diff bearing part numbers. There’s a bearing supplier near me I know quite well from back in my industry days so I’ll get the numbers and go see them.

Glad to see you're getting out and about in it, shame about the diff though seems like you've nearly rebuilt the lot by now. The grin will only get bigger

Even with the tracking and alignment out miles, the Cooper ltz “winter wheels” totally out of ballence the car did the round trip to Camarthen beautifully. The lie o meter even crept up to 22.4 on the motorway
So looks like all new back brakes when I get the new calipers back from the painter, new upper and lower hub bushes, find out what’s up with the rrs upper rear arms and then replace the lower front arms, back in to alignment,
After that lot I’ve got some nice raptor coated shire rock sliders to fit.

Hi budd. Thanks again for the info ! Really appreciated.
Look what turned up today. This is a serious bit of kit. Not like the tin thin flimsy allisport.
It’s off to my fabricator to have the pipes chopped off and 54mm pipes welded on. Jarrod

Hey budd.
‘Tis indeed said rs500 one. Should have bought this before. It’s so much better than the allisport ! Some minor pipe alterations and then attempt to fit.
