Ok so not even collected my D4 yet and already a few questions brewing
Is the EPB on the 4 as prone to not liking off road use as on the 3?
Mine will go off road at least once or twice a month and dont want to wreck the EPB if it gets full of mud in the shoes. What's the best advice, not to use EPB whilst off road?? ISTR the advice for the 3 was to rinse out the drums/shoes by removing a little plastic cap on the rear disk brake assembly and running a hose in after prolonged off road use, is this the same procedure on the 4?
Any advice welcome.

LR advise cleaning, checking and lubricating the EPB after every 50 miles off road. Corrosion is the problem, so making sure your rear discs regularly get hot helps to dry them out (remember the discs and EPB drum are one casting). This is not as easy as it sounds, as most braking force goes to the front. I've found gentle braking can be a false economy so, when it's safe to do so, I do some serious emergency braking. Downhill works best. Reverse if you're brave. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

Thanks, so giving the mud a rinse followed by some hard braking should help. Can you apply the EPB on the move at low speeds to warm it up or will that do more harm than good?

I could be wrong, but I think not, unless you put it into the 'bedding in shoes' mode. Try it: I think it will throw up an error on the LCD.
In any case, The heat going into the discs increases as the speed-squared, so braking from higher speeds is the way to do it. Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

The D4 has an emergency braking system. If you try to apply the EPB whilst moving, it uses the normal disc brakes to bring the car to an emergency stop (e.g. the passenger could do this if the driver's legs suddenly fell off).
So you can't lightly apply the EPB whilst moving like you can with an old fashioned hand brake. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Andy, it's the same setup as the d3, so treat it the same as before and you'll be fine. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks Bodsy, was rather hoping it was a better sealed setup but at least I know what I'm dealing with

Andy, its the same. Having said that, I have had no problems with my D4 epb. It has done a bit of mud, but nothing like I used to put my 3 through. The dealers seem better able to adjust it now. (they probably read Bodsy's bible )

To date not had any epb issues with D4, now at 94k miles and to be fair it's had more than a fair share of mud and crud.
I do seem to remember there was talk of the back-plate being modified from the D3 one to help reduce the amount of crud that can get in on the D4 ones. But I could be wrong, I frequently am. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

The current D4 and the 2 previous were used extensively off-road and the epb is used the majority of the time and I've never had a problem with any of them, they have always been serviced as recommended by Team Valley Land Rover and no problems whatsoever Cheers Ian

So just picking this up again, those that have had no issues, do you make a point of jetting water in through the little cap in the disk after off road use or do you do nothing with it other than regular servicing?
I don't have the skills or time to be stripping cleaning and adjusting mine but if there is any simple routines such as rinsing it out with a hose/jet wash then I will do so.

Other than a general pressure wash of the wheels and connected part I don't do any specific "rinsing" of the park brake. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

To be honest I've never done anything in particular after going off road, just continued to use it as necessary Cheers Ian

Hi,
one advice will help: Do not touch the EPB DURING offroad.
But I experienced lots of dirt in the EPB often, which is not easy to be cleaned, because the drum is nearly totaly closed.
Simply take care of your EPB by not using in the dirt and sometimes cleaning and adjusting according to Bodsys Brake Bible.
Unfortunately the LR dealers take great amounts of money for that...
