If one has the DPF, and it is supposed to be so clean, then why now extra Addblue?

DPF just removes soot and bigger particles, adblue changes the burn-off so less noxious gases

Probably wasn't needed by regulations, and it all cost money

The DPF simply removes soot particles.
The Addblue is used to make significant reduction in the level of NOx emissions

They are two completely unrelated things. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

I've still go 15,500 miles of the stuff left in my tank.
I believe EU6 is more focused on Nox than previous years regulations. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Absolutely.
From Euro 5 to Euro 6, maximum CO2 output and particulate matter levels remained static, but NOx output was cut from 180mg/km to 80mg/km, hence the need for SRC's and Adblue.... 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Its adblue one D, you wont believe how many trucks have custom tanks etc with the wrong spelling
Its funny gear some makers of the custom alloy tanks used steel tank drain bungs, big mistake, they corroded and caused havoc with the denox dosing machinery.
The sensors etc are very clever and can even tell if you have used cheap poor quality adblue, this was another problem for some time until people realised it was false economy!
Adblue was 50 pence per litre when I left 8 months ago, any spills dry to a crazy web like pattern, can also cause problems with some peoples skin

The VED dropped to £260 when CO2 output dropped to 213g with the previous year's model. The 2016 car's CO2 output dropped to 203g, but it remained in the same tax band, at £260. Unfortunately, the reduced NOx output of the, Adblue, 2016 car isn't taken into account 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
