PO62 -2015MY DSC Recall
Heads up ...as always....be advised that this has been only been issued today (16\04\15) so dealers may not as yet be fully aware.
As this is a safety issue, I guess if you have a 2015MY with cubby fridge and are getting warning messages then call your dealer asap and refer them to the PO62 notice.

Dear Colleagues
A concern has been identified with the software within the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) which was introduced at 2015 Model Year to support the introduction of a new Integrated Monitoring Unit on Land Rover Discovery vehicles.
Every time the ignition is switched on, ABS software is designed to check the condition of the ABS and associated network to confirm it is free of defects. This is known as a ‘Good Check’. On Land Rover Discovery 2015 MY vehicles the ABS software, ‘Good Check’ function has not been correctly installed into the ABS software.
Vehicles installed with a front center console cooled cubby box can, when the ignition is switched off, generate a back spike Electro Magnetic Flux (EMF) which causes the ABS control unit to remain 'live' for longer than the design specification 100ms. During this unexpected
'live' period, the ABS system continues to run self-diagnostic routines. Other systems have already shut-down as part of normal ignition-off operations and as a result, the ABS system fails to detect the presence of key components. This causes the ABS system to record a Diagnostic
Trouble Code (DTC) and log this detected fault. At next ignition on, as no ‘Good Check’ is present, the system flags a Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) defect.
The DSC warning indicator is illuminated in the instrument cluster and the Yaw Stability Control (YSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Gradient Release Control systems are disabled. These systems are disabled for the current ignition cycle. Because the “Good Check†is missing, the 'fault' is perpetuated for subsequent ignition cycles until cleared. Furthermore, the air suspension goes into “Safe Modeâ€, lowering to its lowest setting. An Amber warning indicator illuminates and a message â€Suspension Fault†is displayed on the instrument cluster.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) & ABS remain fully operational and unaffected by this condition. Vehicles with lowered suspension and the stability system disabled will no longer meet the vehicle stability requirements specified in UN-ECE Regulation 13h. The vehicle will not
automatically restrict its maximum speed and no speed restriction message will be available to the driver. Vehicles in this condition, where DSC intervention would normally engage, may lose stability and this could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Action to be taken
Jaguar Land Rover Limited has taken the decision to recall affected vehicles to download the latest level of software.
Retailers are reminded that they should not sell vehicles identified as affected by a safety recall until such time as the safety recall has been successfully completed on affected vehicles.
At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, please ensure you check DDW and that all outstanding Field Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.

VOLUNTARY SAFETY RELATED RECALL - 2015 MY Discovery 4/LR4 - Dynamic Stability Control Functionality
Dear
Jaguar Land Rover Limited would like to advise you that during ongoing quality assessment of our product it has been identified that a possible safety related problem may occur on certain Land Rover vehicles within a specific production range. Please read the information below, this will explain the actions that we intend to take and what you will need to do;
Reason for this programme
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) software installed in your vehicle controls a number of related vehicle systems including Dynamic Stability Control (DCS), Yaw Stability Control (YSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Gradient Release Control. The ABS system software in your vehicle contains a flaw which can cause the aforementioned systems to be inoperative.
You may notice the illumination of the DSC warning indicator along with instrument cluster message centre text warnings and lowering of the suspension as a consequence of this defect. Anti-lock Brakes will continue to operate but the DSC, YSC, ETC and HDC will not operate until the software is updated.
This condition is more likely to occur where vehicles are fitted with a front centre console cooled cubby box.
What Jaguar Land Rover Limited and your Land Rover authorised repairer will do
At your visit, your preferred Land Rover authorised repairer will download the latest level of software.
How long will it take?
The work on your vehicle will be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to minimise inconvenience to you and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. However, due to your Land Rover authorised repairer schedules, your vehicle may be required for longer.
What we are asking you to do
Please contact your preferred Land Rover authorised repairer without delay. To book your vehicle in for this action you will need to provide the authorised repairer with the following which are detailed at the beginning of this letter.
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your vehicle.
Vehicle registration number of your vehicle.
The programme code for the action.
If you do not have an authorised repairer, please access www.landrover.co.uk or www.landrover.com for contact details.
If you no longer own the vehicle we would be grateful if you will complete the ‘Change of Ownership’ slip attached to this letter, returning the slip to Jaguar Land Rover Limited immediately in the enclosed ‘Freepost’ envelope. This will enable us to make contact with the new owner.
If you have concerns
If you experience any concerns relating to this Voluntary Recall, please contact the Service Manager at your authorised repairer for assistance or contact the Jaguar Land Rover Limited Customer Relationship Centre on 0370 5000 500 or (enter telephone number).
This recall action is being undertaken in accordance with the legislative or industry requirements concerning vehicle defects. The authorities will closely monitor the response rate of this Recall Action.
Please treat this matter with the urgency it requires. Jaguar Land Rover Limited apologises for any inconvenience this Voluntary Recall may cause and thank you, in advance, for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely

Jaguar Land Rover Recall P062
2015 and certain 2016 Model Year Land Rover Discovery/LR4 vehicles Dynamic Stability Control functionality
Main Message: A concern has been identified with the software within the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) which was introduced at 2015 Model Year to support the introduction of a new Integrated Monitoring Unit on Land Rover Discovery/LR4 vehicles. At each ignition cycle, ABS software is designed to check the condition of the ABS and associated network to confirm it is free of defects. This is known as a ‘Good Check’. On Land Rover Discovery/LR4 2015 MY vehicles the ABS software, ‘Good Check’ function has not been correctly installed into the ABS software.
Question 1
Who do I contact if a member of the press contacts me about this recall?
Answer
Please ensure that any Press enquiries are referred to the Jaguar Land Rover Corporate Affairs office.
Question 2
Why is Jaguar Land Rover Limited recalling certain Discovery 4/LR4 vehicles?
Answer
With vehicles in this condition, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) may not function and it could result in a loss of stability and increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Question 3
Can you tell me more about what is wrong with the vehicles?
Answer
Vehicles installed with a front center console cooled cubby box can, when the ignition is switched off, generate a back spike Electro Magnetic Flux (EMF) which causes the ABS control unit to remain 'live' for longer that the design specification 100ms. During this unexpected 'live' period, the ABS system continues to run self-diagnostic routines. Other systems have already shut-down as part of normal ignition-off operations and as a result, the ABS system fails to detect the presence of key components. This causes the ABS system to record a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and log this detected fault. At next ignition on, the system, as no ‘Good Check’ is present, flags a Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) defect.
Question 4
How would the customer become aware of potentially having this concern?
Answer
The DSC warning indicator is illuminated in the instrument cluster and the Yaw Stability Control (YSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Hill Descent Control (HDC) systems are disabled both for the current ignition cycle and because the 'Good Check' is missing, the 'fault' is perpetuated for subsequent ignition cycles until cleared by a retailer. Furthermore, the air suspension goes into 'Safe Mode', lowering to its lowest setting. An amber warning indicator illuminates and a message 'Suspension Fault' is displayed on the instrument cluster. The vehicle will not automatically restrict its maximum speed and no speed restriction message will be available to the driver.
Note: Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) & ABS remain fully operational and unaffected by this condition.
Question 5
Does this concern affect vehicle safety?
Answer
Yes. Jaguar Land Rover has determined that this condition does pose a safety risk which is why a safety recall is being conducted.
Question 6
Has Jaguar Land Rover Limited received many complaints?
Answer
Jaguar Land Rover has received a number of customer complaints relating to this issue.
Question 7
Have there been any accidents or injuries or fires?
Answer
Jaguar Land Rover is unaware of any accident, injuries or fires which have been attributed to this issue.
Question 8
How was the condition discovered?
Answer
Jaguar Land Rover was alerted to this concern through quality data reporting systems.
Question 9
How long has Jaguar Land Rover known about this problem?
Answer
The realization of a pattern of DSC failures was recognized in early April 2015.
Question 10
Is the defect leading you to any concerns regarding the reliability of a system, which is supposed to be designed and engineered for the passengers' safety? What type of measures are you planning to take?
Answer
We have no concerns with the overall reliability of the vehicle. Jaguar Land Rover carefully monitors field data to ensure that any matters relating to safety and compliance are rigorously investigated.
Question 11
What has Jaguar Land Rover done in production?
Answer
Revised ABS software, including the ‘Good Check’ function, has been introduced into the Bosch supplied electronic control modules and fitted to vehicles built from 10 February 2015 onwards.
Question 12
What is the repair for this issue?
Answer
Retailers will re-flash the ABS module with the correct software.
Question 13
Which vehicles are affected by this recall?
Answer
2015 Model Year Discovery/LR4 vehicles built from 19th August 2014 to 10th February 2015 inclusive are affected.
Question 14
Are other Jaguar Land Rover models affected by these actions?
Answer
No other models are known to be affected by this condition, other than those listed on this document.
Question 15
Are parts available to rework vehicles?
Answer
This repair requires software only and this is now available.
Question 16
How much will the recall cost Jaguar Land Rover?
Answer
Cost was not a factor in deciding to recall these vehicles.
Question 17
How do I know if my vehicle is affected?
Answer
All owners of potentially affected vehicles will shortly receive a letter inviting them to contact a Land Rover authorised repairer for the work to be carried out.
Question 18
How long does it take for the vehicle to be inspected and repaired?
Answer
The work will be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to minimise inconvenience to customers and is expected to take no longer than 20 minutes to complete. Naturally, due to dealer schedules, vehicles may be required for longer.
Question 19
Can I continue to drive my vehicle safely until it has been recalled?
Answer
Customers are advised to contact a Land Rover authorised repairer should they have any concerns regarding their vehicles.
