Hub nut size
Hi all
Back in summer I had a local garage replace my front lower arms and the near side drive shaft, I've just got myself sorted to strip it down as I think the near side wheel bearing has failed and on removing the front wheel centre cap I've found a totally different hub nut considerably larger than the standard 32mm.
It's left me in the position that I can go no further as 32mm is the largest socket I own. Does anyone have an idea what size they would have used? I'm considering popping back to them tomorrow and explaining the issue would anyone else do the same?

I've had the same issue on other vehicles. Generally they tend to be 32mm, 34mm or 36mm I don't think I've seen any larger than 36mm on cars/4x4's. Jarrod

Yep, 36mm. There are two styles now - and they are different threads too. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Thanks for the replies I have tried to take a couple of photos. It seems rather that having a rim to indent into the driveshaft there are four cut outs in the nut. Would that be the 36mm nut?
I think I've worked out that on the near side I have the later driveshaft which I gather uses a different hub nut. I assume I can still use the new Timken bearing I have ready to fit but will need a new hub nut of the later style if anyone count confirm that and its size I'd really appreciate it.
