EPB issues
Hi all.
Driving back from London yesterday I had an amber warning light come up on the dash just below the fuel gauge and a message in the message centre, park brake fault and auto release not functional, anyway when I got home I found that I had also lost my reversing lights and rear parking sensors . My Question is are these faults related. My handbrake works fine using it manually. 3 weeks ago I had three flash indicators, clock on dash, and auto handbrake release enabled, my D3 is a 2006 S Manual.
Any help or advice would be appreciated

No sign of slipping , l had a new clutch 18 months ago 20.000 miles. So maybe a coincidence having my three flash indicators , clock on dash, and auto release handbrake enabled ?

Yes, the faults are related.
The XY Sensor incorporates a reversing light switch which, in turn, activates the rear PDC. Sometimes just changing gear, going over a significant bump in the road (at speed), or accidentally revving the engine whilst changing gear can trigger this fault to appear.
I would agree it's a coincidence that you've had those bits enabled. I have all of those (apart from 3 flash indicators) enabled on my D3 which is also a 2006 S Manual with no ill effects here.
If you've had a new clutch fairly recently, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Just follow the recalibration procedure outlined in the post Lost for Words linked to above and all should be well again. Until next time it happens.
I mean, it's not as if your torque converter is about to implode...

Well I done it, recalibrated my XY sensor and every thing is back to normal thanks to Lost for words & Woolmeister
Sadly or not I have seen a 15 plate Defender XS with 2000 miles on the clock at the main dealers today and if I can come to a price we can agree on, I will be leaving the most helpful and knowledgable forum I have visited. As I say if the price is right.
